Back on Track Again
Binley Rec has become something of a happy hunting ground for Affinity over the past few years. You know what you get with Binley and we wouldn't be disappointed by what we faced.
A fairly even first half with 2 goals a piece doesn't quite tell the whole story (best ask Ian about that)! Casualties on both sides led to enforced changes with Gary having to sit out most of his comeback game with another ankle injury. Affinity's equalising goals scored by Mike C and Nick Walker on his debut. Nick's in swinging corners caused Binley difficulty all game.
Binley started the second half with 10 men and offered Affinity a great chance to take the advantage, but Binley upped their game and scored a third just as Bowler turned up. This goal a cross that looped over Dale into the far top corner of the net. We seem to get more than our fair share of them.
Affinity's response was quick and ultimately decisive with two further goals from Mike C and a tap in from Josh P putting the game out of Binley's reach. A questionable penalty decision from a questionable referee wouldn't be enough to dampen Affinity's pleasure at getting back on track with a well deserved victory.
A true man of the match performance by Mike C not just for his 4 goal tally, two headers and one with each foot, but his harassment of the Binley defence was significant during the whole match but particularly in the second half when we needed a lift at 3-2 behind. Also special mention to newbies Nick, Steve G and Yobo who contributed a lot to this victory.
