Final game of the season today against Runners up Hart FC and the team decide to have a bit of a switch round and to be honest apart from a couple that found it hard and moaned just a tad and I won’t mention any names...Darren/Harry/Jordan B we looked pretty good. Despite taking the lead through a Josh penalty (did I mention that two players bottled it when it came to stepping up, no, ok then I won’t mention Jordan and Scott) The two goals we conceded were to say the least avoidable and Steve showed he is no slouch between the sticks with a smart save, at times a bit nervy and let’s not pull any punches here, particularly at fullback, A change was needed and Arnott slipped into right back and H dropped back and all of a sudden we looked like a different team and put some lovely moves together constantly causing Hart problems and then just before half time a crunching tackle from H showed that we were not just going to roll over. Cammy slipped into left back for the second half and away we go. Different team and one way traffic in the second half, we start moving the ball around well, good performances from both Jordans in the middle and Scotty marauding down the right start to create chances and finally the equalizers arrives via the boot of “ I’m not a striker Josh”. Another change and Mr versatile Arnott moves to centre back, Frazer drops in at right back and Sam the man Powell moves up front and all of a sudden we can smell blood and go in for the kill. A lovely ball from Jordy B to Sam who cuts it back for Josh to slot in his hatrick and the lead.
That man Sam again makes the run into the box and just invites the tackle and the defender obliges and it’s another pen, better finish from Josh this time and its game over. Quality performance in the second half even with only two really in their proper positions and really showed that we were the best team in the league dismissing the runners up with ease. Time to celebrate boys every one of you have stepped up this year and deserve the title. MoM today, I thought about it and normally when you score 4 you would expect to get it but not today sorry Josh, Scott Arnott played in three positions today and was quality in all three, sorry Scott. One person changed the game today, he was awesome at the heart of the defence until he went back up front and even though he didn’t get on the score sheet he set two up and earned the penalty that turned the game from defeat to victory, MoM – Sam Powell
