Freezing March afternoon with the odd flutter of snow in the leafy surrounding of Heatherside.
The perfect setting for the Predators to show their metal after the calamity that was the Berg game.
The team is changed round with Dazzler going to left back, Scotty H moving to the middle with H and Jack given a go in centre midfield with Bucks sitting just behind him.
Confident start but then for ten minutes it was like having Rory bloody Delap on the opposition as Camberley sent bombs into the box from as far away as the halfway line every time they got a throw in, Freddo and Harry stood firm brilliantly and once that storm was weathered and Scott Arnott got over his “I’m knackered” after only 5 minutes the Predators tore into Camberley like Hyenas that had cornered their prey.
The knackered Arnott sets up Sam for the opener with a slide rule pass and Sam finishes with ease which makes you wonder why three minutes later he can miss from 1 yard out with an open net at his mercy which takes over from Haslett as the miss of the season.
Harry then has dig from 35 yards with a free kick and as Sam jumps in front of the keeper he fumbles it into the net.
Aaron is setting the tone as he smashes into tackles like Roy Keane, and is warned by the ref for studs up, but with his short sleeves rolled up a bit more it looks like he is on a mission today and gets the third with a tap in at the far post.
The defence of H, Jordan, Scott and Daz are nothing but superb, Harry winning the lot with his rather large bonce, Scott mopping up behind him brilliantly, Dazzler looks like he has played lefty for ever and Jordan is having his best game this season with some quality tackles.
Crash Bang Wallop as the ball comes out of the box to Aaron he catches the ball so sweet and such power the ball is bursting the back of the net in the blink of an eye.
Sam gets smashed in the box and Aaron grabs the ball, all set for his hatrick......but he smashes it so far over the bar with such power the boys have a drinks break while they look for the ball down Camberley high Street.
Max, on for Cammy has a chance but fails to take the ball with him as Sam sets him up.
Jack and Jordan are bossing the middle and it’s the Buck who gets number 5 just before half time with a beautifully flighted free kick that leaves the keeper clutching at fresh air.
The best first half performance that I think we have played.
Second half was always going to be difficult to replicate the first and keep the discipline.
To their credit Camberley come out fighting and quite literally at one point as Cammy is punched in the face off the ball. Just as well that Jack missed that, but have we seen a new Jack? As Jordan is in the middle of telling the ref what a so and so he is the voice that booms out ‘Jordan shut up’ is none other than Jack.
Some hefty challenges are now flying in from Camberley especially the centre half as he first takes out Cammy then pole axes Sam shortly followed by the same on Scott.
A smart ball forward a lovely cut back to Max by Cammy a nudge forward and Aaron gets his hatrick from close range.
Camberley get one back from a quality free kick but just to make sure we go back up the other end and Scott A coolly puts in number 7.
Camberley still keep going and get a penalty when Jordan tries to karate kick their striker and seeing as he had been booked is lucky to still be on the pitch, penalty despatched so 7-2.
Thats not the end, Cammy gets his well deserved goal after Sam put him clear on goal.
Last kick of the game and Cambo score from a corner, lazy defending.
Looked like a team today, changes will stay for next game and surely we can only get better.
