First Half from King George

Playing into a strong wind in the first half, Stronstad were hoping to get a good start against Icomm FC who started with only 10 men but their game plan was destroyed 2 seconds into the game. Icomm Fc kicked off and straight away from the half way line the Icomm FC player launched the ball straight down field and with Jamie Nottage only yards off his line the ball sailed over him and into the back of the net.

A stunned Stronstad kicked off with the hopes of getting a quick goal back but some wayward passing was not helping their cause and with 5 minutes gone Stronstad were dealt another blow as Icomm FC got a second goal. The ball was launched forward out to the wing where Gareth Colley failed to intercept the ball and the Icomm FC player collected the ball and fired it to the near post where Nick Crocker deflected the ball past Jamie Nottage to make the score 2-0.

Manager Dave “Moggsy” Morling was shell shocked as Stronstad’s game plan had fallen apart in the space of 5 minutes but to their credit Stronstad battled to get back into the game and had a few chances of their own to pull an important goal back. First Dean Barlow saw his low shot saved and then Cliff Little saw his effort from outside the box tipped over by the Icomm FC keeper. At the other end Nick Crocker made an important block when the Icomm FC player lined a shot up and then came a controversial decision that killed the game off as a contest. Icomm FC were on the attack and as the Icomm FC player tried to flick the ball past a Stronstad player the referee blew his whistle and pointed to the spot. From the resulting penalty the ball was slotted home to the digust of Dave “Moggsy” Morling and the rest of the team.

Stronstad kept battling away and had a few more chances to pull a goal back. First stand in Captain Paul “Macca” McKay let fly from distant but his effort was wide and Gareth Colley also attempted an effort from range but his effort flew over. The best chance then fell to Cliff Little as he collected the ball and advanced towards goal but instead of finding the far corner he pulled his effort wide.

Just before half time Icomm FC got a 4th goal. Icomm FC won a corner and from the corner the ball was swung in where an unmarked Icomm FC player headed the ball home from close range to make the score 4-0.

Half Time:- Icomm FC 4 Stronstad Utd 0

Stronstad went out for the second half hoping to get something out of the game and with Dave “Moggsy” Morling’s words ringing in their ears he got the perfect response. 5 minutes into the second half the ball was bouncing around in midfield where Lloyd Adam’s took aim and from 40 yards managed to blast the ball over the Icomm FC keeper and into the back of the net to the delight of the Stronstad team and Dave “Moggsy” Morling. This goal lifted Stronstad and they put Icomm FC under some heavy pressure and on another day they could have scored more goals.

First a corner was played in by Ian Privett where the usually reliable Nick Crocker headed the ball wide and then Steve Beech jinxed his way into the box but his stinging effort was turned over. Ian Privett then had a sight of goal but his effort went wide.

This was more like Stronstad as they kept battling away and still more chances came and went. Nick Crocker got into the box but his low effort was kicked away by the Icomm FC keeper and then Cliff Little took aim from 30 yards but his driving effort was well held by the Icomm FC keeper.

Towards the end of the game Stronstad’s last chance went as a ball was played in and the smallest player on the pitch Jon Way jumped and headed the ball forward but his header flew agonisingly over as the referee called time on another disappointing defeat for Stronstad.
