Well the dream is over for Stronstad Utd as they went down to a strong and physical Watersedge side 3-0.
I’m not going to do a regular match report, as there was no real bright spot in the match.
To be honest I felt disappointed by the way Watersedge went into the match, as some of their tackles were a little over the top and Steve Beech was on the receiving end of some of these tackles.
With Stronstad 1-0 down they were given a lifeline as a Watersedge player was well deservedly sent off for a two-footed lunge on Nick Crocker.
Stronstad’s best chances of the match fell to Rod Robertson who brought a smart save from the Watersedge goalkeeper and the rebound was put wide, Brad White hit a stinging volley that hit a player before being cleared and James Clarke but his effort went wide.
In the end Stronstad went down 3-0 and it brings an end to there dreams of winning the title.
What a bad 2009 for Stronstad after looking very good odds to do well in all the cups in 2008.
Oh well back to the drawing board
