After two good wins at second and fourth placed opposition Grey Horse over 40's turned in a moderate away performance against third bottom team Houghton Cricket to draw 2-2. Having a squad of only 13 players available Horse started the game well with the midfield dominating the play going forward. Horse deservedly took the lead with ten minutes played when Wilson broke from the centre of the park to round the home keeper to produce a rare collector’s item - a goal. Within minutes Horse were two up after Foster's shot was diverted into goal from twelve yards out by Bainbridge. After a shout for hand ball and penalty were not given the half time scoreline was 0-2. Horse were looking comfortable but started the second half without midfielder Wilson and began to sit deep allowing the home team time in midfield to attack the Horse defence. Houghton did get back in the game with a headed goal midway through the half and were gifted an equaliser with ten minutes remaining. An attempted clearance from keeper Timmis on the edge of his area went straight to a Houghton player who lifted the ball back over the stranded defence into an unguarded goal. A poor second half performance after being in complete control of the game in the first half and with next weeks divisional cup semi final to play Horse must improve and maintain good standards to get back to winning ways if a final place is to be taken.
