Grey Horse over 40's played away at Hebburn in the 2nd Division Cup and came away with a comfortable 1 - 5 victory. Squad numbers were not as great as previous games with manager Joyce having only 14 players available. Playing 3-5-2 formation Horse got off to a good start and went 0 -1 up within the first ten minutes. The home defence was opened up for the unmarked Dixon to score from just inside the box and not long after Dixon scored his second, planting a header past the keeper from a Bowtell corner kick. Bowtell then did well to block a certain goal on his own goal line from a Hebburn corner. Man of the match Foster scored number 3 before half time shooting past the stranded home keeper. Horse played really well in the first half with good short passing and movement from all players on the pitch. In the second half Horse continued to dominate play and open up the home team from the midfield. Dixon completed his first ever hat trick in all his years of playing with a blast from close range from a pin point Foster cross. Moore made it 0 - 5 from a break down the right side mid way through the half. As Horse began to tire in the hot conditions keeper Timmiss pulled off some fine saves before Hebburn scored a consolation goal from a quick break against the out numbered Horse defence. Joyce could have scored late on after a tremendous solo dribble had put 4 defenders on their backsides in the box but scuffed his shot wide of the goal. Another good performance all round again, sees the Horse into the next round.
