Grey Horse over 40's played at home against Durham City Strollers and were pleased to come away with all 3 points from a not so good performance. Having the inconvenience of having to wear last weeks unwashed kit Horse didn't get off to the best of starts with some poor passing play early on. Strollers however were looking very dangerous attacking the home defence on every opportunity and frustration began to show in the home team due to the inconsistent accuracy of passing. Bannister should have opened the scoring midway through the first half after taking the ball from the half way line before slipping 6 yards out with only the keeper to beat, the slip proved costly as Bannister was unable to continue having damaged an ankle in the fall. Horse did score not long after, a good run and cross from sub Bulleyment on the right wing for Dixon to put Horse 1 nil up. Still not playing the fluent football as usual Horse went 2 nil up just before half time, Bowtell with the knock in after some rare accurate passing play from midfield. The second half display could only get better which it did with Wilson at the heart of all the good passing moves. Mid way through the half Strollers did score from a cross and back post header which was not undeserved. Wilson continued to control midfield and it was his quick thinking from a free kick that opened up the away defence for Dixon to score his second of the game. Not as good a performance overall as usually expected but none the less 3 points in the bag.
