After beating Consett last week Grey Horse over 40’s played away against the same team and gave a moderate display to draw 3 – 3. Horse started the game with some good play down both flanks but never got fully in control of the game. Consett were playing well and looked dangerous with a three man attack but it was Horse who took the lead with Wickins volleying in from a corner through a crowded goal mouth. After Laffey was replaced by Joyce due to injury, Foster scored a second midway through the half with a drive into the net from a good passing move. Just before half time the home team were gifted a goal from sloppy defensive play to make the score 1 - 2 at half time. Not long into the second half and the score was 2 – 2, a home forward scoring from a long punt up field which was not cleared by the Horse defence. Horse again went in front when Thompson kept the ball in on the corner-line and passed to Dixon to blast the ball into the net. Keeper Timmiss had to pull off a fine one handed save from a shot into the top corner to thwart the home attack and Foster missed a good chance to put Horse two goals in front after controlling the ball in the box his shot went inches wide of the post. Consett were not to be denied and were rewarded with a late equaliser from a cross to a breaking midfield player who poked the ball past Timmiss. A draw probably a fair result after a lacklustre performance from the Horse, but they still remain undefeated and having played a decent Consett team both home and away.
