Superb display of bounce-back-ability!
Not the best start with one or two late arrivals (mentioning no names of course - GREG! - 3 minutes indeed!). I hoped it wouldn't cost us, and it didn't! A great team effort saw us comfortably into the match, and our first goal came quickly with Mikey lashing in from the wing. Game on ..... Until the equaliser! Oh well - onwards! The incident of the match happened now, and in no uncertain terms the keeper should have walked: Last man, a trillion miles out of his area, league officials what more do you need?
If we needed reminding then this was the tonic, and I think the commitment level and defending really spurred on from here. We took the lead back from a quickly taken free kick (undeterred from my previous quickly taken miss!!!), and there was Ben to spank it into the roof of the net - no messing!
Half time came and went, Macca having a much more pleasant task than of recent weeks, and did well to remind us that we had done the good work to get where we were. This obviously struck a chord, as the performance for the first part of the second period was just what the Gaffer had asked for. Mikey and Gary putting in exceptional efforts.
A Potten Legend, turning on the style with a brace right from the top drawer, sealed the Game a MOM by any standards. The Machine not to be outdone, ending a mini barren streak with a score of his own.
Well done Potten, it is going to however require one more of those to get us where we want to be (and then one more again!).
Keep it Rotten.
