The most pertinent thing for Macca and myself before arguably our most important game of the season thus far was the stength of the bench. To have Mikey, Bones and Ben available meant that we must have a good team! This season we have chopped it about and managed to keep everyone playing, and the attitude and desire from all concerned has been fantastic. We still have a minimum 10 games to go this season and a good few more we hope! Lets keep this squad system and desire going, its been one of the best groups we have had (for the legends with memories to tell - that is saying something!).

So.... we started with the team that ground out last weeks 2-1. Langleybury are a (shall we say) direct team, and we knew what we were in for. Sure enough the first corner came in double quick fashion. This time however we set the tone with stoic defending. Everyone stayed man tight and competed. I think this rather flustered Langley, andthough KK had some good touches, and the tall bald 15 did a job, we didn't really look too troubled. At the other end however they could not say the same. Balls through from Gav, Rob, Rahul and Gaz regularly troubled the home side. Rahul drew a good save and then set up Gav later to see the keeper tip one round the post. Rob and Gary were massively destructive in midfield. Rob especially roilling back the years with a juggernaught of a performance. Dale missed a couple, but the machine was not to be denied, and broke the deadlock with a good slipped pass from Simmo, saw him calmly net. 1.0 Potten

The half time team talk was for more of the same. Subs would come on at some point so everyone pushed on. Unfortunately a fee kick superbly struck leveled the score. No shame here, great goals will always go in, and no one can take any blame, it happens. Undaunted Potten pushed on and so came the changes. The great work from Rob and Rahul must have felt like a kick in the orchestra's for Langley, as fresh legs on top of the chasing they had already done was simply too much. A black and white tidal wave battered the Home goal. The rest of this story is how many Dale scored and missed, as simply put it was one way traffic. 2-1 and 3-1 came and the game was all but over. But we are Potten End, and it wouldn't be the same if we didn't throw a lifeline now would it? The goal was a goalmouth scramble as a lot seem to be this season? However it was never in doubt and we simply replied at the other end to put one over on the oldest of Potten End Enemies. 4-2. Personally I found this hugely pleasing, as I hated loosing to them earlier in the season having led and then being cornered to death. I remarked to KK after the game that we owed them that one. We have them again in another cup if results go..........

A final note: Our opponents this week (sharpshooters) overcame Sarrat this weekend. Now this means that the league is BACK IN OUR OWN HANDS. Win all of our games and we will be top of the league regardless of other results. This has not been the case since very early in the season. Food for thought people. HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT IT?

Keep it rotten..........
