MAIDENHEAD CROWN FC 2 – 3 ETON RIFLES / SUNDAY MORNING MARY WELLS CUP
We were in cup action again last Sunday, this time the opposition were ETON RIFLES from DIV 1 at home.
Despite the opposition having a poor start to their league campaign, we new that playing a team for any divisions above would prove to be tricky.
We dominated the play and had a good few opportunaties which sadly were not taken....
Yet again this cost us dearly, the opposition scored 3 quick goals with out reply and at the 35 mnt stage of the game we somehow found ourselves 0-3 down.
We did carry on pilling the pressure on and were rewarded 5 mnts before the break.
On his debut, PAUL NEWPORT, rose highest to score an unstoppable header from a MATTHEW HILLIER corner. That was the least we deserved by that point.
Halftime score was 1-3.
In recent games we knew we performed better in the second half, and that's exactly what we did.
Great pressure resulted in MATTHEW HILLIER beating 2 men and firing a superb long range effort to make it 2-3. This after around 65 mnts played.
The opposition couldn't really get out there half for 30 mnts but sadly the goal would not come for us.
The best chance coming to CONOR HAYNES but sadly he blazed over with a few mnts to play.
This weeks game doesn't come much bigger, we have a local derby in the cup at home against MAIDENHEAD NOMADS RESERVES.
We share the same park and changing rooms all season so this promises to be a cracker.
Its a shame we could go into this game with a win, but roll on this Sunday.
