Maidenhead Crown FC 2 – 1 AFC Warfield / BERKS & BUCKS ROUND 2 ( Sunday am )
After our second league defeat in a row last weekend, it was important to get back to winning ways as we were in cup action against AFC Warfield.
We did just that by winning the game 2-1.
We started very brightly and went 1-0 up after 25 mnts.
Very good work by JOSH DUNN resulted in him having a shot which was saved, only for him to tuck home the rebound, that was just rewards for the perfect start of the game that he had.
Sadly some poor defending resulted in the away team equalizing in the first half. The halftime score was to be 1-1
We knew if we got at this team, that they didn’t have much to hurt us with.
That was the message at half time and we did just that, the second half belonged to us. The only threat the opposition could master was long range shots which were blazed over the bar.
When they did almost get through, man of the match WARREN EAMES was always there to prevent the opposition from scoring.
Almost 45 mnts of constant pressure was rewarded when JOSH DUNN scored his 2nd of the game from close range.
We had countless opportunities to score goals in the second half but did take them. So we can settle with 2-1 in the knowledge that we are through to the next round.
A much improved performance from last week.
We are away to PINKNEYS GREEN in another cup game this Sunday at Oaken Grove. This will be a great game as they are 2 divisions above us and it’s a local derby.
