Its has been a summer full of positivity after winning the league last season.

For various reasons we had to change our name from White Horse FC to Maidenhead Crown FC, The Crown Pub in Maidenhead is now our sponsor. We were promoted to division 3, which we knew was going to be very difficult & new to us. We started our season on Sunday at Desborough Park, our new home ground for the season vs Compassses FC.

The day couldn't of gone better for us, we were winners in a 7 goal thriller.

Maidenhead Crown went 1-0 up after 15 minutes after a potential early goal of the season contender by James Mckelvie, he produced a great strike from 25 yards which curled into the top left corner in emphatic fashion to follow up a similar strike in the previous pre-season match.

The Crown were soon 2-0 up after good work from Andrzej on the left who cut the ball back for Sam Browne to shoot past the helpless keeper.

Then the game turned against us & the opposition piled on the pressure threw long balls and set pieces, eventually getting there breakthrough firstly by a free kick on the edge of the box which was headed in & there second came from a corner just before the halftime break.

We knew we had to raise our game for the second half & we did just that with James Murdoch scoring a great header leaping above the defence from a pin point set piece from Matthew Hillier to put us 3-2 up on the hour mark. Soon after the assist he got himself on the scoresheet with a well taken strike from just inside the box to make it 4-2.

it was a tense end the the remainder of the game as Compasses pushed on and was rewarded with their pressure with another goal to make it a nervous 10 minutes for The Crown until the final whistle, but we held on with some strong defencive work.

A great start to the season with 3 well earned point on the board.
