As the season slowly starts to come to an end a vital home game against Pubrook was opon us a game we needed to win to keep up the pressure on WPTs....
We started with a 4-4-2 with charlie and alfie on the bench, with alfie pulling up just before the start with a sore foot.
Both teams started strongly and it looked as if it was going to be a tough game with the ball being pinged around quickly by both teams tackles flying in and the game being played at a fast tempo was one of those games where the first goal was the all important goal.
Luckly it was us who got the opening goal after 9 mins jack found himself in space and calmly picked out kieron who was set clean through and calmly smashed the ball past the keeper to put us 1-0 up.
Thinking that would get us on a roll it created the opposite,the game slowly started to die out with not many real chances being created by neither team the only real chance fell to purbrook on 20 mins a mix up between ryan n and max down the right left the purbrook player with a clear run at goal but luckly his shot hit the top of the cross bar and went out for a goal kick.
We made a change after 23 mins bringing alfie on for ryan s to replace him upfront,but it continued to be a slow first half but going in 1-0 ahead was what we deserved.
We didnt make any changes at half time sticking with what we had as we were playing well and it worked in our favour,we came out flying in the second half the work rate,team work was the best it has been all season and we created two very good chances in the first few mins first cameron shoot just wide from an alfie corner and then from another alfie set peice jack blasted over from just inside the box.
It took us time but we finaly got the second in the 35th min with a great bit of play down the right max set up alfie who didnt need a second chance to the ball in his stride and drilled it past the keeper to give us some breathing space at 2-0.
Purbooks heads started to go down and with max and cameron tearing there right back apart we continued to push forward,jack and toby battled so hard in midfield with the back line of ryan n lewis sam and olly was solid and on 39 mins we put the game out of purbrooks reach with a great bit of play breaking from the back jack played in cameron who with one touch slide in max his pace took him pace both defenders and slide the ball past the keeper who did get a hand to it but was not enough to stop it rolling in to make the score 3-0.
After that cameron was unlucky not to get a goal his all round play deserved having his shot blocked and cleared off the line but we continued to push forward and in the 45min max got his second and are 4th gambling on a high ball he took the ball down turned past the defender to break clear his pace was to much for there back 4 to compete with and he took his goal well giving the keeper no chance at his near post.
Made another two changes towards the end with charlie replacing olly on 45 mins and ryan s replacing kieron in the 50th min both due to knocks they both received.
With time ticking out we had the chance to make it 5 ryan n linked up well with max down the right who then fed in a perfect ball to cameron who with a little bit of trickery managed to play jack threw 1 on 1 with the goalie but lashed at his shot and put it wide of the post but did very well to hold his line and g=create the space for himself and desreved the goal.
The game pittered out and with the final whistle going we run out a comptable 4-0 winners with every lad working hard from back to front,billys kicking,handling and use of his box today was key to him keeping yet another clean sheet.
Man of the match again was tight between max and cameron both worked hard created so much for the team but it went to max the two goals he scored just swayed it in his favour.
