Away at pickwick youth a game we felt we needed to get a good result from to get are goal difference up as we have not been taking chances of late starting with a 4-4-2 with lewis and josh on the bench and smithy captaining the side.
We started alot etter than recent weeks knocking the ball around using the flanks and loading the area with crosses however we still had the lazy attitude around the middle of the field and up front losing out to all 50/50 balls and failing to gamble on throw-ins corners and crosses the second ball we just failed to win alot of the time.
We grew with confidence as the game went on playing some great one touch football with kieron and max working the wings really well and after 23mins are patience was paid off with a goal mouth scramble ryan s found himself in space between then defence with the ball at his feet and calmly slotted home the opener to make it 1-0.
Lewis replaced toby on 24mins to change the shape dropping into center defence with jack pushing up into midfield and leaving ryan s up top as a lone striker and within a min of the change max won a free kick out on the right which gave lewis the chance to strike towards goal and with a little bit of luck the keeper spilled lewis free kick into his net to put us 2-0 on 25mins and to send us in 2-0 ahead at the break.
After a good team talk regarding what we were lacking in the first half josh replaced ryan n to drop in at right back,however we soon found areselves being put under pressure from the kick off with there midfield pushing us back towards goal with attack after attack finding little holes in and around are midfield and within mins of the restart from a corner pickwick found with 3 unmarked in the box managed to scramble home on the 32min to get them selves back in the game at 2-1.
A little shacky and set back by that goal we took are foot off the peddle and stopped playing simple football being made to hurry are passes and give the ball away cheaply,needing a little chance up front toby replaced ryan s after 43 mins hoping to give us a little more pace up front and get areselves back in the driving seat.
Then in the 45min we did just that winning the ball in the middle of the field jack set smithy away to smash home to make it 3-1 that was then followed swiftly after in the 49min by a fourth as a great little bit of inter change between toby and max set toby away to make the score a more comftable 4-1 with a little over 10mins left to play.
We continued to create lots of good chances with kieron hitting a shot against the post just for it to bobble around the goal line and to be scrambled away by the pickwick defender,again pushing foward cameron was unlucky not to make it 5 with a good finish being ruled out for off side.
Ryan n then replaced an impressive smithy to give him a rest with josh slotting into midfield and ryan n dropping back into right back taking the confidence on into the game we didnt take are foot off the peddle finding a different gear to step into we could sence that pickwicks heads had dropped and went for the kill grabbing anther 4 goals in the last 5mins first a great ball into the box found kieron free at the back post to tap home to make it 5-1 in the 55min then kieron again found himself in lots of space to slot home his second in as many mins from a great toby through ball to make it 6-1 in the 57min.
We continued the pressure with olly setting kieron away down the right a challenge by the defender took kieron off balance but he did well to stay on his feet and to pick out lewis at the back post in the 59min for lewis to smash home to make it 7-1 and just as the game crept into injury time cameron found himself free on the edge of the box to curle home to make it 8-1 in the 60min and to round off a great team performance and a confident and much needed 8-1 victory that will help are goal difference and put pressure on the chasing pack.
Man of the match went to kieron he just did the little bit more to earn himself the trophie with some great wide play creating chances and scoring a brace himself.
Well done lads am proud of how you killed off the game today by taking your chances lets just take this into are next game and through out the season lets make the rest do all the chasing as we consentrate on are own football as on our day were unbeatable.
