Home league match played on 17 October 2010.
Kicked off at 2:00 AM

Pickwick Youth A were the visitors playing them agin for the second time in the league in only a matter of weeks winning 8-1 in the reverse fixture.

We had a couple of new faces in the team today with the signins of Alfie Devaney and Samuel Bonney both getting there first run out in a Hawks shirt and adding that extra bit of quality to an already brilliant side.

We started with a 4-5-1 formation with Toby Cameron and both new signings Alfie and Samuel on the bench.

Starting with the kick off we broke out the blocks flying creating chances straightfrom our kick off with smithy forcing there keeper into a fine save josh going close hittin the post and then Lewis putting Max through on goal to again test there keeper all within the first few mins of the game.

It only took the lads 6mins to pick off our opponents with Kieron playing a great ball through to Lewis who took on two defenders to slot home passed there keeper to make it 1-0 and settle any nerves within the team.

We continued to press forward winning corner after corner with both Jack and Charlie both going close to getting are second but that was soon to come again from a Kieron corner the ball was controlled well on the chest by Lewis to help set himself up to smash home his and are second to make it 2-0 on 12mins.

The defence in Ryan N Charlie Jack and Ollie were solid not giving Pickwick any chance of breaking through and any time they did find a hole Billy was there to clear his lines.

Josh had a great header from a Max corner tipped onto the bar which fell to Ryan S with his back turned to goal he tried to wrap his foot around the ball but just pulled his shot wide.

Cameron replaced Kieron after 20mins due to Kieron suffering a dead leg and filled in out on the left hand side and was automaticly involved helping to break up a Pickwick attack.

Smithy had a shot well saved on 21mins from a Jack throw but straight from the save a big keepers kick court our back line asleep with the Pickwick striker going through one on one but pulling his shoot wide again leaving with Billy quick off his line making himself look as big as possible to help put off the striker.

On 22mns we put are firm grip onto the game with Smithy threading a great ball through to Lewis to calmly run through the heart of there defence to get our third goal and seal his hatrick and make it a more relaxing 3-0 altough it was soon put to bed and the game killed off within the following 6mins first on 25mins a Cameron corner was defected in by the Pickwick defender to make it 4-0 altough it was heading in anyway and then on 28mins with some great play down the right hand side from Ryan N the ball was picked up the ball 25yards out by Max which he set himself to strike a good effort which bounced over the keepers head to make it 5-0 and send us into the break on a high.

Half Time we made two changes first Alfie replaced Ryan S upfront for his debut and Toby replaced Josh to join Alfie upfront Lewis dropped center half to give Jack the freedoom in the center of midfield going back to a 4-4-2.

We started off slow in the second half losing are shapea little bit as the lads struggled to get used to swapping from a 4-5-1 to a 4-4-2 during a game.

Ryan N had are first real effort in the second half pulling a shot wide from 20yards was a good effort he was then replaced on 38mins by Samuel to give him his Hawks debut filling in at right back.

In the 45min we won a free kick out on the right which i asked Lewis to leave for Alfie which he hit with power flying into the top corner ready to celibrate just for the keeper to make a fine save tipping around the post which from that moment become a duel between Alfie and the Pickwick keeper.

But from the resulting corner Cameron swung in a great corner to the back post which was flicked in by Max to get his second of the game doing well to squeeze in between two defenders to get the ball rolling in the second half and make the score 6-0.

Max was replaced on 47mins after having an outstanding game working his socks off down the right hand side he was replaced by Kieron who had recovered from his earlier dead leg.

Straight from the change Cameron found himself in space and was calmly picked out by Ollie to tap home his second of the game and put us 7-0 ahead with a little over 10mins remaning.

Just 2mins later a corner from Cameron was not fully cleared by the Pickwick defence it fell to Lewis's feet for him to hit a tame shoot towards the keeper who managed to let it slip between his legs and with a close call the linesman and ref judged it over the line to get his fourth of the day and make the score 8-0 after 49mins.

Alfie as he had done a few times before hit a great shot which looked to be sailing over the keeper just for him to get his fingers to it to turn it over it just wasnt going to happen for him today but we all know the goals will come from Alfie thick and fast.

Toby switched from left hand side to the right hand side showing some great foot work always looking to play the simple passes and from that he feed Cameron who picked up the ball by the edge of the area to swing in a great cross to pick out the unmarked Kieron to head home to make it 9-0 on 59mins we still had one or two chances to hit double figures but 9-0 was still a great result and a very good team performance.

Man of the Match was close with many players playing well but due to his goals aswell as the tireless hard work up and down the right hand side the trophie went to Max Wilson.

Well done lads getting better and better every week am proud of you all lets keep it up and take this performance on into the next game away to Gosport Fc in the Pompey Cup ;)
