Home league match played on 31 March 2013.
Kicked off at 10:30 AM

Clenchwarton closed the gap on the league leaders with a fine home win against Wisbech Acorns.

From the word go, Clenchwarton looked full of confidence, producing some excellent football.

It took 12 minutes for the home side to register on the score sheet, with Kodie Turvey making the most of a lovely ball across the box from Lewis Jeavons.  Kodie managed to power his way in front of his marker and connected with the ball first time to guide it past the keeper.  1 - 0.

10 minutes later, and Kodie finds himself on the edge of the box.  He lays the ball out right to James Winner, who then puts a great ball in to the area for Josh Murray to hit first time past the keeper (almost a carbon copy of the first goal), doubling the home side's lead.  2 - 0.

The first half played out without any further goals, with only a couple of half chances falling to the front two.

Half Time - 2 - 0

The second Half started with the Acorns looking a little more threatening.  They upped their work rate and started to match Clenchwarton in the middle of the park.

However, it was Clenchwarton, again, who managed to turn their play in to the more promising chances.

42 minutes, and Luke Reid picks up the ball in midfield.  He drives forward and unleashes a fantastic shot at goal.  On this occasion, however, the Acorns keeper is equal to the task and pulls off a magnificent diving save to deny Reid from getting on the score sheet.

52 minutes, and Reid is involves again with the front two.  He collects the ball and lays it wide to Murray.  He drives forward and loops a delightful ball over to the back post, where the smartly placed Kodie nods home for his second of the game, extending the lead to 3 - 0.

However, Wisbech were still pressing the home side all the way, and got their just rewards on 56 minutes when a cross from their left in to the box was connected with by their striker, leaving Brad Palmer no chance.  3 - 1.

60 minutes, Lewis Jeavons has a wonderful long range strike at goal.  Lewis smashes the ball from 30 yards, only to see it hit the bar, come down on the line and then collected by the keeper.

62 minutes, Wisbech are rewarded with a free kick on the edge of the Oranges area.  However, the resulting shot is hit over the bar.

2 minutes later, Josh Chilvers collects the ball on the half way line.  He turns and puts Josh Murray through on goal with an inch perfect ball for him to run on to.  He manages to hold off his defender and slides it past the keeper.  4 - 1.

68 minutes, and this time Josh Chilvers collects the ball in midfield and decides to have a shot.  He's at least 35 yards out, and unleashes a screamer, only for that to crash against the bar.  Both he and Lewis were unlucky not to get something from both of their superb attempts.

71 minutes, Luke Reid takes the ball down the left.  He pulls the ball back across the box for Josh Murray to put away.  However, it was deemed offside, although we're not sure where.  A minute later, and Kodie has a great shot from the edge of the area, only to see the very good Acorns keeper tip it over the bar.

Final Score : 4 - 1

A great game of football, and a taste of what is to come in a few weeks time when these two teams meet again in the league cup final.

MoM : Josh Murray
