Clenchwarton reach the league cup final after an entertaining second leg win over Discovery, setting up a showdown with Wisbech Acorns at Wisbech Town Football Club on the 28th April.

With a four goal lead in their pocket from the first leg, Clenchwarton could have stifled the game to prevent Discovery from getting anything out of this encounter.  However, the game proved to be an open, and entertaining, one, with a slightly waterlogged pitch adding to the spectacle.

Both teams came out ready to battle.  However, it was Clenchwarton who dealt the first blow.

15 minutes, and the obviously still injured Brad Palmer kicked the ball out left to Kodie Turvey.  He turned his player and fed the ball through for Josh Murray to run on to, who made no mistake against the oncoming keeper. 1 - 0.

After this, it was pretty much one way traffic.  On 20 minutes, Clenchwarton were rewarded with some excellent play with a free kick 25 yards out.  Kodie ran up to the ball, only to dummy his kick, leaving Jordan Turner to expertly curl the ball in to the top right of the net.  2 - 0.

Man of the Match Ryan Pell got in on the act on 34 minutes.  Josh Murray floated a lovely ball in to the box from his corner kick.  Kodie got his head to it and flicked it on to Ryan, who superbly headed the ball home. 3 - 0.

4 minutes later, and Josh places another fine ball in to the box from a corner kick, finding Ryan Pell at the back post.  He nods it home, only to see it disallowed after the referee spots a push in the box.

A minute later, and Ryan, this time playing provider, knocks the ball through to Josh Murray to run on to.  He knocks it past the oncoming defender and places it in to the bottom left.

Half Time : 4 - 0 (agg 8 - 0)

Discovery came out in the second half with a more determined look about them.

2 minutes in to the second half, and Discovery have a shot at goal.  Bradley dives to his right and palms the ball around the post.  From the corner, the ball is knocked in to the Clenchwarton box and, after a mad goal mouth scramble, the away side put the ball in to the net.  4 - 1.

Josh Murray completes his hat-trick on 62 minutes, after another fine link up with Kodie Turvey.  Kodie picks up the ball on the half way line and lays the ball out left to Josh.  Josh passes the oncoming defender and drives forward.  The keeper comes out to meet him, but Josh calmly hits the ball home in to the bottom right with his left. 5 - 1

Discovery add another goal to their tally on 60 minutes, with a long range effort.  Bradley can only watch it as it rolls in to the bottom right. 5 - 2

Kodie ensures the home side keep the goals coming.  Robbie Rose picks up the ball on 65 minutes and knocks it out right to Kodie Turvey.  Kodie neatly looses his marker and turns on to his left, with seemingly no real angle at goal.  However, Kodie superbly curls the ball in to the far post and sees the ball cannon in off the upright. 6 - 2

A minute later, and James Winner clears off the line for the second time in the game, to prevent more damage from the away side.   Alex Havers and Robbie Rose were working incredibly hard to try and keep the away sides attackers at bay, reducing them to long range shots only.

74 minutes and Discovery are now shooting from anywhere, knowing Brad isn't moving too well, this time from wide on the right. The ball curls towards Brads left, but he can't get to it. 6 - 3

78 minutes, and Josh Murray runs in at goal from the right.  He beats the defense and puts the ball across the goal for the smartly placed Kodie to tap home to give him his second goal of the game. 7 - 3

80 minutes, and Ryan Pell caps off a fine display by getting his second goal of the game too.  Kodie Turvey picks up the ball on the left.  He tricks his way past the defender and crosses the ball in to the box.  Ryan times his run to perfection and heads the ball past the keeper.

Final Score : 8 - 3 (agg 12 - 3)
