With only 1 win in their last 8 games, Rovers looked to get back to basics in an attempt to regain the early season form which brought them so much success, when they hosted Beck Row Reserves FC in League 2 action.
Manager Paul Jeavons made a couple of changes to last week's squad as brothers, Jamie and Ryan Maxwell, were drafted into the starting line up, for a game which is a dress rehersal for next Saturday's League 2 Cup Semi-Final.
As they did last week, Rovers began the game very brightly and looked to get at their visitors from the very first whistle.
They looked to had got their noses in front after 10 minutes when a lovely through ball was expertly put away by Ally Clark from just inside the area, only for the Rovers' bad boy to have his effort ruled out for offside.
If the opening 10 minutes belonged to Rovers, then the next 15 minutes belonged to the visitors as bit by bit they got more and more possession and started to create 1 or 2 chances for themselves.
Niether side were able to break the deadlock during this period and as the first half progressed, it was Rovers who again began to boss proceedings and look the more likely of the 2 teams to open the scoring.
Despite coming close on a couple of occasions, at the end of the half, Rovers went into the break level with their opponents at 0-0.
After a very positive half time chat, Rovers came out after the break and again looked the more threatening of the 2 sides, as they went in search of a much needed league victory.
Their luck looked to have run out again though as 5 minutes after the restart, it was the visitors who got their noses in front when Rovers' failure to deal with a Beck Row corner, was smashed into the home side's net from 12 yards out, giving Scott Glacken no chance.
Rovers to their credit continued to press though, where in recent games their heads had dropped after going behind, and were rewarded for their positive attitude 10 minutes later when Martin Coverdale was brought down in the visitor's area. Top scorer Lee Glacken made no mistake from the resulting spot kick, sending the keeper the wrong way and squaring up the match in the process.
The goal spurred on the home side and with the wind in their sails, they went looking to make thier possession count and went in search of taking the lead for the first time in the match.
10 minutes after drawing level they were able to do just that when Lee Glacken found the ball at his feet and a bit of room inside the penalty box and slotted Rovers into a 2-1 lead.
Going behind seemed to give the visitors a kick up the backside and again they did start to threaten the Rovers' goal a little more as the game drew to a close but the result was put beyond doubt with only 5 minutes remaining when Lee Glacken scored again to claim his hatrick and give Rovers only their 2nd league win of 2012.
The 2 sides will meet at the Heath again next Saturday when they lock horns in the League 2 Cup Semi-Final, as they both go in search of some silverwear this season.
