After the last game and with some big fixtures coming up we needed to bounce back quickly and everyone knew it. Former skipper Steve Sharman sent a message to the boys via satellite linkup wishing them good luck and to remember the bouncebackability factor.
With a slightly weakened side B&A took to the field in the traditional 4-4-2 formation and the classic 'Big Man' up top in the shape of Robbie G and Bayley Woggles filling in at centre back. To give you an idea of how week the squad was Badger made it to the bench.
The game it self was no contest, a combination of 11 men who wanted more than anything to go out and win and put a statement out to the rest of the league, a poor opposition and some quality football saw the B&A boys run riot. It was 6-0 within 35minutes.
Gozzy took his tally to 14 for the season with 5 goals, 4 coming before the break. That’s 56 for the club and Lucy is still yet to witness one!!! Lee Gammon was putting himself about early on and it was obvious he was after his first league goal this season. He fizzed a couple of long rangers, one grazing the woodwork, another forcing a good save from lard in the Roselands goal before he spanked the far post leaving lardo routed. So it was no surprise that he eventually notched, and also no surprise that it was a long range effort, giving the keeper no chance.
Robbie G was having the game of his life, People talk about Heskey, they talk about Nail Quinn, you can keep those over paid clumsy no hopers Robbie G was the man. The ball stuck to him like glue and he was setting chance after chance for the rest of the boys. He was unlucky not to find the net himself. Ferg also opened his account for the club this term with two well taken goals, the first laid on by Baggo and the second from a lovely cross from Goz.
Into the 2nd half, Gozzy got his fifth, and even with Lucy in the stands she still missed the ripple of the onion bag, we believe it was a crucial moment in Becky's story about when her GHD's broke down on a Monday morning that had her pre occupied!!
At 9-1 with 15minutes to go the gaffer made a double change bring on tweedle dum and tweedle dumb arse, but to everyone’s surprise it paid off, Tweedle dum notched from the spot to score his first ever goal in B&A colours and Tweedle fuckwit dumbarse cant shoot for toffee scored when a ferg ball in rebounded off his knee and in.
Also we must thank the medical team back at the training ground for their risky and potentially career threatening decision to release Adam from his calipers a month earlier than expected.By Adams standards he produced an excellent display at left back which has without doubt given him a chance to stay in the squad and not get dropped into the reserves and possible transfer list
All in all a good win, Hobbit has some catching up to do if he’s going to catch Gozzy now.
