Away cup match played on 21 January 2012.
Kicked off at 2:00 PM

A slightly odd fixture this week as we ventured over to the home of bitter rivals Southborough to face their reserve team in the league cup.  No one really knew what to expect other than they would be tough opposition doing well in their own division.

The squad was boosted by the timely returns of long term injury victims Mick Jagger and Gandhi’s Ghost.  Hamish was sidelined with a womb injury and Junior was still away smoking crack in the French alps.

It was a slightly scrappy first half with Southborough’s young centre forward causing B&A a few problems with his pace. And there were further problems for B&A early on when the Skipper Captian Manering pulled up with a tweeked hammy.  He was replaced by Gandhi’s Ghost, his first run out since injuring his thumb in a sexual encounter with Huffers and his flying squirrel!!  Chances were at a premium but the breakthrough came just before the half hour mark.  A good run forward from Pat at right back who played the ball on to Berty who let fly with a dangerous ball in to the box which was met to everyone’s amazement by Zac Morris from Saved by the Bell.  He rose highest to head the ball past the on rushing Mr Belding.  1-0.  The lead was doubled in similar fashion.  This time Stan Bowles lumped a long free kick in to the danger area this time it was 2Gun Willy who pipped Belding to the ball and head home.  2-0 at the break, some good old route one doing the job for boys in black and red.  The second half started in scrappy fashion, Spudulike had some handbags with his opposite number which resulted in a booking each for their troubles.  Again Southborough carved out a few chances but nothing that really threatened big Daz in the Blackham sticks.  Much of that was thanks to Sergeant Major Bishop who was marshalling the back line and pulling more strings than Geppetto himself.  On top of that we were just about winning the battle in midfield but as the game progressed we tightened our grip on the game.  So it was no surprise when 2Gun made the game safe and set up a semi final with Tonbridge Invicta.  Baggo, just on as a sub showed a flash of his early season form flying down the right wing. His ball inside found Bert who took it on and fired the ball in low to 2Gun who had the nonchalant task of rolling it in to an empty net, poor Mr Belding could only look on in anguish.  The boys stayed focused to the end to see the game out and keep their 6th clean sheet of the season.

Tonbridge Invicta up next
