The first round of the North of Tay Cup and we couldn’t have asked for a tougher draw as we were drawn against the current Midlands premier champions and favourites for this competition. The gaffer went with a 4-5-1 formation to start the game
Jamesie
Kris, Sharpy, Tam, Craig
Ecky, Ryan, Deano, McBee, Finlay
Liam
Subs; Fyffee, Bogger, Darren
We were massive underdogs coming into this match and our opponents came out of the traps strongly and in the opening twenty minutes we were put under pressure as they had chance after chance to open the scoring, but we were defending brilliantly and Jamesie made a few great stops to keep the scores level. They were then awarded a penalty just before the half hour mark but the defender stepped up and blazed it over the bar. The opening goal came shortly after that miss though as they took the lead. We didn’t let the heads drop though and were soon back on level terms when Finlay set up Liam and the big man scored with a great strike from the edge of the box to stun our opponents and we went in at half time level.
HT 1-1
In the second half we conceded an early goal and this knocked the stuffing out of us and gave them a lift. They then added a third to leave us with a mountain to climb to get back into the match. We kept going though and Ecky and Liam had decent chances from the edge of the box but both their efforts went narrowly over the bar. As we chased the game we then conceded a further three late goals as they cruised to victory.
FT 6-1
