This was the first meeting between the two clubs since the Balgay Cup final last season and we knew we were in for a tough 90 minutes as they were looking for revenge for that final defeat in May. The gaffer had to make a last minute change to the line-up as Deano was still feeling the effects of a dead leg from Wednesday’s match, and after struggling in the warm up he was replaced by Craig in the starting eleven.
Jamsie
Kris, Tam, Sharpy, Hutchy
Darren, McBee, Craig, Jamie
Mitch, Ecky
Subs; Ryan, Liam, Bogger, Mikey, Simmy
We started the better of the two teams and took an early lead when Jamie set up Mitch who slotted the ball past the keeper for his 1st of the game. We didn’t build on the early lead though and they gradually came back into the game and hit two goals in quick succession to go 2-1 up. We then hit back quickly to level up the match with Mitch grabbing his second.
HT 2-2
The second half was evenly contested and it was becoming clear that the next goal would probably win the match and it was us that re-took the lead with big Mitch netting for his hat-trick. Bothe teams were also reduced to ten men after Hutchy was penalised for a kick out at their midfielder who reacted by elbowing Hutchy in the face. There were then chances at both ends in the closing minutes but we held out for three three points.
FT 3-2
