AC Hamilton 1 - 3 Wishaw Athletic
The park might not of been up to much but credit to everyone for wanting to play football right from the start. It didn't take long to take the lead, a free-kick was awarded about 35 yards out which McCann played into Lee Knox inside the box who controlled before finishing the ball info the corner to make it 1-0. We created further chances throughout the majority of the 1st half, some disallowed goals and obscure decisions but we allowed them... into the game needless free-kicks before half time and into the 2nd half. It took us awhile to regain the earlier control of the game putting our defence under un-necessary pressure. A few further opportunities created before the 2nd came. Martin Clark showed great foot work down the right going by 3 or 4 players before passing the ball across to Danny Love to finish to make it 2-0. We allowed again Ac Hamilton to come back into the game and they made it 2-1 before re-gaining control of the game again and putting them under pressure pushing for that 3rd goal which came after great work by James McGhee who squared it into Lee Thomson inside the box who found the net to make it 3-1. They went down to 10 men after their defender took out Graeme Jed Cockburn through on goal. A bit of creativity from McCann with his free-kick which he passed into James McGhee who put it narrowly over. Considering the conditions of the park, the weather wasn't helping the situation. All round we played great passing football possibly too narrow in the first half but spread the ball well in the second. Midfield was pinnacle today and stand-in captain McCann marshalled and controlled the middle of the park today along side Knoxy and Lee then later Cockburn, Gistel Bjorn and Gary had a shift today and both contributed throughout the game in every aspect required today. The defence was stalwart today both Michael Patton and Darren then later Marcus did there job today alongside a solid Chris Statham who held it together as well as showed his presence a number of times. Martin and Danny led the line well today both having to work hard as the park wasn't allowing the ball to be played directly into feet today so coming back looking for the ball was needed also some great passes being played a pleasure to see, James continued the needed pressure when he came on and a few chances fell to him and unselfishly played it into Lee's feet.
