Away friendly match played on 25 March 2012.
Kicked off at 11:30 AM

Sutton had a break from their busy league programme with a friendly against Beacon Stars. It was the first meeting between these two teams which made it an interesting encounter and even more so with a pitch that had a 20 degree slope.
The boys kicked off the game in the sun which started quite even but it wasn’t long before Sutton settled and started to dominate the game. The team played some delightful football, heads were up, passing and moving, tenacious in the tackle, dribbling was accompanied with deft touches and silky skills with each player rotating in different positions but still the team kept their shape and played as a team. With Sutton in this kind of mood they easily brisked past their opponents and soon found themselves infront. It wasn’t long before Sutton scored another, then another and another, eventually totting up a score to 8-0, a goal fest in the sun.
Nesta led the attack and the goals, producing a superb hat-trick. His first goal epitomised how well Nesta’s game has come on as he burst past three, four defenders with pace and skill accompanied with a finish that his idol Theirry Henry would of been proud of. Every time he touched the ball defenders were scared and the crowd excited.
Will Hussey got himself two goals. He has developed into a very tricky winger. With his quick feet, drop of the shoulder and away he goes from the defender, consistently delivering quality balls in to the box. He also knows where the goal is, another 2 goals for Hussey.
Tom Brookes found the net twice. A rock at the back at the start then unleashed wide in midfield where he used his pace and skill attacking any space in front of him. He had an earlier goal disallowed but his persistence paid off with his first goals of the season, brilliant performance.
Matty Birch snatched a goal in the second half. Early in the game he was goalie, then defence, then midfield a superb all round performance. Busy, tenacious and topped it off with a poachers goal.
During the game the team created many opportunities and played with a real togetherness and appreciation of everyone’s contribution. No more so than Zak. Zak Shaw was strong and dominant in the middle of the park. He was the pass master pulling all the strings involved in probably every forward move. Man of the match performance.
Kai once again put in a ten out of ten performance. Nothing stops this little fella, a consistent man mountain who wins everything, every tackle, header who possesses a midfield engine that never stops running. A real team player who set up most of the goals today.
Alex was another top performer. A strong intelligent player who knows when to pass, when to move into space or hold his position and also possesses a sweet left foot. As always 100% committed with a magnificent display.
Mitch was another player rotated in several positions and looked highly accomplished in all of them. This kid has great feet, he creates time and space where there isn’t any and uses the ball so well. A great player who makes the team tick.
Will Baker had a staring role upfront busy winning balls hounding down the opposition and who unselfishly brings players into play. Another committed performance who was so unlucky not to hit he back of the net himself. The Baker boy was handful for any defence, great performance.
Callum played in defence then later in midfield. He won everything that was in front of him and showed his versatility with his passing and positioning play. A great team performer.

Sutton rocked in 8 goals and conceded none. They played their football with passion and pace and once again entertained the mums and dads. A delight to watch.

MOM. Zak was the conductor today, pulling all the strings producing a performance that oozed quality.
