Sporting Armley crashed to a disappointing defeat in a game where they failed to match their opponents in their determination to win.
In his final game as Armley boss, Glenn King returned to the starting line-up as captain Karl Smith simply failed to show up, and so the former captain took his place alongside Richard Moses in defence.
Pearson and Coldwell kept their places at left and right back, but it was all change in midfield with Karl Smith AWOL and Liam Robinson unavailable.
Kevin Bruce moved up from centre back into centre mid, starting alongside Gareth Knight and Wayne Smith. New signing Jason (surname unknown) started on the left wing, with James Lee pushed out onto the right.
Danny Goulden once again ploughed a lone furrow up front.
Seacroft were impressive throughout, particularly with their pressing of Armley when in possession, which led to a number of mistakes, including the opening goal.
Richard Moses got caught in possession at the back, and although he escaped his marker, played a blind pass across the edge of the area, straight to the feet of a seacroft player who had an easy task of slotting the ball past John Moses for 1-0.
Armley have a reputation of coming from behind to win games, and they were soon on level terms when James Lee played a neat chipped ball into the box for Jason to run on to. Somehow he managed to shrug off the attention of two defenders, and bundling through them he fired a low shot past the goalkeeper at the near post to make it 1-1.
The comeback was short lived as Seacroft had the ball in the net again just minutes later, and it was 3-1 to the visitors just before half-time as Sporting found themselves out of ideas.
4-5-1 became 4-4-2 as Wayne Smith pushed up front to give Danny Goulden some support, and eventually Armley got themselves back into contention thanks to a James Lee penalty, following a handball in the box.
With the scores at 3-2, Seacroft earned themselves a penalty when Danny Pearson lost the ball on the edge of the box, and in his frustration shoulderbarged the striker to the ground when through on goal.
However, John Moses pulled off a fantastic save, diving to his right and tipping the ball onto the post and out for a corner kick. It could have been a springboard for another Armley resurgence, but in the end it wasn't to be.
A substitution was made which only weakened the team, with Coldwell being subbed off having taken a knock, and in his place came a young lad, Jordan (surname unknown) who had never played with the team before. He failed to make any contribution to the game, and looked out of his depth on the right wing.
Eventually Seacroft put the game to rest with a further 2 goals before full time. The fourth killed the game and the fifth was simply a case of players giving up and allowing the team to score.
New manager Simon Yaffe will be grateful he now has a couple of cup games in which to get to know his players before the league campaign continues. Armley are not out of it after one defeat, but they will need to step it up if they have any ambitions of winning the league.
