Away league match played on 30 April 2011.
Kicked off at 2:30 AM

Sporting Armley continued their climb up the league table with their fifth consecutive win.

John Moses took his usual place in goal, but there was a much changed defensive line up in front of him for this game.

With Richard Moses preferred in a central midfield role and Glenn King unavailable, it was Bryant Coldwell and Danny Pearson who stepped in to take up the centre back positions. Both did an excellent job playing in an unfamiliar position.

David Barlow kept his place at left back, and Phil Wheeler returned to the side at right back for his first game in several weeks.

In midfield, James Lee partnered Moses in the centre, with Wayne Howe starting on the right wing with Liam Robinson on the opposite side.

Up front there was another change, with Danny Goulden partnering Gareth Knight in attack.

Sporting Armley started the game brightly, with Wayne Howe coming close with a header that struck the crossbar and then his follow up shot parried away at close range.

Minutes later Armley got the opening goal when Danny Goulden scuffed a shot into the path of James Lee who sidefooted the ball between two defenders and past the stranded goalkeeper.

Despite Armley's early dominance, Prince of Wales Bradford struck a goal back with their first effort on goal to equalise at 1-1.

Sporting continued to create the better chances, and were soon back in front following an usual penalty incident.

Wayne Howe had his shirt deliberately lifted up and pulled over his head at a corner kick by a Bradford defender, which the referee saw and pointed straight to the spot. James Lee stepped up to fire Armley back into the lead.

Armley were 3-1 up by half time, the third goal coming from a great Gareth Knight strike on the edge of the box after Liam Robinson's original effort was blocked. The ball fell to Knight who slammed home his 7th goal in his last 7 games.

Sporting were 4-1 up almost immediately after the restart when Liam Robinson played a one two with Goulden and cutting across the box he fired a low shot into the bottom right corner.

Prince of Wales Bradford were demoralised and looked beaten, but managed to claw a goal back to restore some hope.

Kevin Bruce and Elliott Stubbs came on to add fresh legs with James Lee and Danny Goulden making way.

Armley continued to attack and create chances, and scored their 5th when Liam Robinson was felled in the box. The resulting penalty kick caused chaos within the Armley team with Danny Pearson walking off the pitch and refusing to play.

With James Lee off the pitch, it should have been Pearson's kick to take, but Robinson placed the ball on the spot and fired it past the keeper.

Pearson was enraged and after a confrontation with Gareth Knight, he stormed off leaving his team with just 10 men as all available substitutes had been used.

Eventually Pearson calmed down and returned up front, with Kevin Bruce dropping back to centre back alongside the excellent Coldwell.

Armley conceded late on when the ball bounced around at the back post following a set piece and it was slammed in at close range, but it turned out to be just a consolation for Bradford.

Armley will be looking for another victory on Wednesday night as they face Bradford again at Armley Park.
