Sporting Armley finally got their league campaign into positive goal difference thanks to an amazing 9-2 triumph away to Belle Isle.

John Moses started in goal, with a changed defensive line up of Gareth Knight and Glenn King at centre back, David Barlow at left back and Elliott Stubbs at right back.

After a great performance v Amaranth, Richard Moses moved up into central midfield alongside James Lee. Bryant Coldwell and Karl Smith once again taking up their positions on the wings.

Danny Goulden and Andi Bellhouse completed the line up in attack.

Armley played some of their best football of the season, and it was all too easy in an opening exchange that saw Danny Goulden score two almost identical one on ones with the keeper.

The first was played through by James Lee, the second by Richard Moses, although Armley were lucky not to be flagged offside when Goulden was at least 5 yards off.

Belle Isle grabbed one back through their beanpole striker 'Stretch' when a long ball straight down the middle bounced and stretch lifted the ball over John Moses, who despite getting fingertips to it, allowed it to fall into the net.

Moses made amends shortly afterwards, parrying a couple of goal bound shots well.

Armley's third goal came from captain Glenn King, but it wasn't a usual headed effort from a corner. This time, the corner kick from Karl Smith was chested down by King, and he fired in on the half volley for a great goal that any striker would have been proud of.

It was following the goal that Belle Isle were reduced to 10 men when a player swore at the referee about the goal which he believed was hand ball from King.

In the second half the floodgates truly opened as Armley hit Belle Isle on the counter attack as they tried in vain to get something out of the game.

Bryant Coldwell pulled up with an ankle injury which allowed Wayne Howe to get involved. He helped Armley notch another goal by winning the ball on half way and sending Andi Bellhouse racing towards goal.

Bellhouse muscled his way into the box, and his cross aimed at Danny Goulden struck the upright, and Richard Moses was in the right place at the right time to tap the ball in from close range.

Further goals followed, and in what order I cannot remember as there were so many!

The pick of the bunch was a fantastic 40 yard missile from Gareth Knight which is surely a contender for goal of the season.

Danny Goulden picked up a hat trick with another one on one, although this time it was three on one, but Goulden was never going to pass to Lee or Bellhouse when given the chance to get his hat trick.

Karl Smith scored a similar breakway goal, running through after a neat flick by Goulden and smashing the ball past the keeper inside the box.

Andi Bellhouse picked up another goal along the way with a neat back post header from a Danny Goulden cross.

Gareth Knight picked up a second goal with header which looped over the keeper once again to complete the rout.

Belle Isle scored a consolation goal with the last kick of the game with a long ball and flicked header.
