In a game filled with a little bit of everything, The Yacht was left on the rocks as Seamless FC continue to perfect their ability to come from behind and snatch the win.
After the inital feeling out process, the two sides began trading punches (almost literally) and it was the home team making the break through, as Josh Help played Player-Manager Jason Amy through on goal to slot cooly around the lumbering Lurch in the oppositions goal.
It appeared to rock The Yacht briefly, however they steadied the ship and began to create chances of their own, scoring a goal through a fortunate long ball, with the attacker sending a cushioned side foot shot over the on-rushing keeper and into the back of the net.
The momentum swung throughout the half, however there were some dodgy calls from the referee, most notably for a clean sliding challenge from Skipper for the day Adam Penney. The resulting free kick was narrowly over and would have caused some controversy had it found its way into the net.
The Yacht soon found the net for a second time, although this reporter cannot remember the details of it, having been doubled over trying to catch his breath after a shot in the nads.
There were opportunities for the home side to draw level, mainly through some poor goal kicks from Lurch and some good team moves, where the finishing was lacking. Suh a move involved the ball playing into the box just behind the forward and the resulting volley flying over the bar. Perhaps the miss of the match came moments before half time as Striker Kris Rosamond rounded the lumbering giant only to knock the ball out of play a la Torres.
Half time came at the best possible time for Seamless who looked to regain control of a match which they had seen slip from their grasp and once again, the half time team talk worked wonders as they came out on the front foot, keeping the ball down and working the channels well.
After some sustained pressure, Seamless had the opportunity to get the ball into the box, having won a number of free kicks, however the away team managed to repel the attacks. They were soon caught sailing in the eye of the storm as Brendan Zabel, making a recovery from a heel problem, saw his effort from the edge of teh box wrong foot the keeper, who was too cumbersome to get back down to a shot which barely touched the back of the net.
There was a moment of panic for the team in the ascendancy though, as Right Back Danny Willcocks went down with a groin injury and Midfielder Simon Stuart also picked up a knock, both players having to be replaced by Kris Rosamond and Nick Scrimshaw respectively.
After some clear chances for the away team, thwarted only by goalkeeper James Bubb who delivered a man of the match performance, Seamless FC got back on track and added a third goal through Nick Scrimshaw, who placed a shot into the far corner following a good team move.
To add to the drama of the day, The Yacht had a rasping drive kept out by the save of the match and the resulting corner was cleared leading the referee to signal for the end of full time.
This was an important win for the pink and blacks and sees them build momentum heading into the new season and proved to others that they can grind out results when it matters.
