It was a repeat of the first match of the season, however the referee was present this time as Seamless FC took on Sarnia Electrics at Beau Sejour.
Electrics started the game with ten men and despite early signs of life, Seamless were soon taking control of the game, finding a rhythm that gave them the lead on 8 minutes. After winning the ball back in the centre of the park, the play was spread wide, before Zabel latched on to a fortuitous pass from McBride to tap around the on-rushing keeper.
This spurred the home team on and they doubled their lead in the 12th minute, Scrimshaw's shanked effort falling kindly to Hardy who swept the ball into the back of the net.
Seamless continued to dominate the early exchanges before finding themsleves pinned into their defensive third, defending a number of throw-ins down the left hand side. The visitors finally had eleven men on the field and this amplified the pressure on the home defence, who continued to hold strong with debutant Robinson making a number of key tackles and interceptions at right back.
There was much improvement from the keeper too as when the visitors did breach the line, Richards was quick off his line to mop up the danger.
Seamless wrestled possession back over the pitch, with the centre backs dealing with the danger between them, and the ball was in the net for the third time, however this was controversially ruled out with an offside flag raised on the far side.
With half time approaching, the visitors pressed again and the centre backs proved too solid down the middle with both Amy and Bubb cutting out several attacks between them to hold on to a valuable half time lead.
There were changes at half time with coach Mahy deciding to move Pink up to the left hand side, with Penney coming on for J. Help and moving to left back.
From the kick off, Scrimshaw was able to find Pink out wide, however the resulting effort was put over the bar.
Electrics were sparked back into life and a lack of marking led to the ball breaking to a forward, who threw himself to the floor theatrically and Penney's reaction to this earned the visitors a free kick on the edge of the box, just to the left of the goal.
The free kick found it's way over the wall and the keeper, dipping just under the bar and Seamless were left to rue the earlier opportunites. From the kick off, Scrimshaw again tried to find Pink on the wing, however this ball was cut out and electrics continued to press.
There were a couple of flashpoints in the second half, the first coming when visiting left winger getting tangled with the Skipper over what was deemed a fair challenge by the referee.
From the growing pressure, Electrics could not take advantage of the corners, with Richard the first man to meet the ball after his routes out of goal were protected by the presence of his skipper.
Debutant Robinson left the field due to a lack of match fitness and was replaced by Loveridge on the 57th minute.
The visitors equalised in the hour mark, with a lack of marking leading to a parried shot falling to the left winger who buried a first time volley past the recovering keeper, who managed to get a hand on it.
The visiting striker continued to dive under every challenge and this was the case when the Skipper out muscled his man who was otherwise bearing down on goal. This irked Amy whose furious reaction led to a referee intervention, although he failed to book the player involved for simulation.
There were cards to come however as the visitors found their left winger booked for dissent, before receiving a second booking and a red card for offensive language.
Seamless could not capitalise on the man advantage as they had in the first half, although some good work down the wing led to a half hearted penalty shout as Mcbride made his way into the box, only to be met by a well timed challenge.
The game finished frantically, with both teams wasting good opportunities to nick the game, firstly Electrics went through on goal only to see the effort flashed wide, whilst down the other end, the keeper was called into action with a decent double save and then Gow could only direct his free header at the keeper.
Richards also made a key save with minutes remaining, a well struck effort from the edge of the box being tipped behind for a corner. He then rose through a group of players to claim the cross before being barrelled over by the opposition.
The final whistle was met with ugly scenes from the opposition, who had been chastising the referee throughout the contest and the refusal of handshakes means that this rivalry will likely be renewed next season.
