The scoreline did not reflect the effort of the away team, which was affected by the warm up withdrawal of Willcocks, who had a recurrence of a groin injury.
With a re-shuffled pack, Seamless took to the field looking to get a response to the run of defeats against a team which lay just one point above them and having scored a similar amount of goals, however this was not to be as Port pressed from the first whistle, giving the visitors early warnings.
Whilst the defence were able to cut out wave upon wave, the deadlock was eventually broken when Port sprung the offside trap, with the striker rounding the keeper as he committed too early and allowing the ball to run into an empty net.
Seamless looked to pick themselves up from this and had a few opportunities to get the ball forward, particularly through some nat interchanges between Zabel and Gow / Holloway and McBride, however it was port who were celebrating another goal. After making the most of some easy short corners, Amy could only head an incoming ball to the edge of the box, where the Port City striker connected with a sweet volley which found its way into the bottom corner.
There were more threats form Port and the third goal would follow before the break, with a simple cross not being cleared by the defence and the return ball being converted with a spectacular (if not lucky) overhead kick from the edge of the box finding the far top corner.
The half time score could have been worse, however Pink had stopped a number of attacks coming down the left hand side.
Following the half time team talk, Seamless took the fight to Port, earning corners and keeping the home team pinned in their own half, particularly making space down the left hand side, with Pink and Gow working in tandem, however the final ball was lacking.
From the corners, Amy had the best chance. Meeting the short corner, he spun past an oncoming challenge, however his tame curling effort was straight at the keeper.
Seamless continued to dig in, with Richards making a number of fine saves, including two double saves, with Amy also on hand to block out a goal bound effort with the keeper prone on the floor.
The goal did come however and it was Port City's 4th of the game, the striker finishing from the edge of the box.
This siganlled the end of the game for Penney, who succumbed to a calf injury, with Bubb dropping in to centre back, with Stuart coming off the bench to join Zabel up front, having been pushed forward with Help sitting in the centre attacking midfield role.
Despite conceding, Seamless went back on the attack, however with the number of players pushing forward, the remaining defenders were left exposed and after Amy's crunching challenge, the ball broke to Port and a low shot found its way in at the near post.
From the resulting kick-off, Seamless lost the ball far too easily, with a short pass gifting possession to Port, who went on to score another goal at the near post.
Seamless finished on the fornt foot but could not find the goal that their play deserved and left the field down-trodden, however there were positives to take from this game, having accumulated a total of 38 minutes between goals and playing some good football on the way.
On another day, a result would have been acheivable here and it is now up to the players to bounce back and take to the field for the next game looking for the all important first points.
