Ransomes V Sax
The last game of a long season was played on a big pitch and a hot day, and after all the hard work of the Thursday night game was going to be a tough task for the lads against I would sat the best team we have played to date
The game started as we expected with the Ransomes players having a shot inside the 1st 2 mins and a warning to the lads that they were going to have to work hard. The 1st goal of the game went the way of the home team a good delivery in from a corner and the striker who must be about 6foot 5 jumped to get a head on it and divert it in. A lesson from that is to have players on the posts. The Sax lads seemed still a bit tired but an attempt from Fish to liven us up ended up with a Yellow card for a clumsy challenge. The lads kept trying and were doing really well to create some chances and the lads at the back worked tirelessly to limit Ransomes to long shots. We created some chances but unfortunately the final ball in was not just right. Then in the 37th minute Kris made a great run from the back and played a ball in to Rossi he scored his 25th of the season to level the scores. The remaining minutes of the half saw chances at either end but no more goals.
The lads were asked to give 1 more push the last 40 minutes of a long season against a team that made 5 changes to bring on fresh legs against our tired ones. The lads did us proud and especially the lads at the back who dealt with attack after attack. Rossi made a chance out of nothing and if the ground was not as hard I am sure the ball would have dropped under the bar. Jack made a few good saves particularly 1 from a fierce shot from the Ransomes sub which moved and swerved. We could not keep them out for the whole half and Ransomes got their winner after some great play split the Sax defence.
Although we are always disappointed to lose a game there was not any more the lads could have done today they battled hard, Created chances and done all they could after the game on Thursday night. Rossi was awarded MOM for his goal and his boundless energy he must be having something good for Breakfast.
The last match report of the season so I would like to thank all of you who have helped this season and particularly Karl for all the help on a Thursday night and the pitch marking and the help on a match day. Brian for his help on Thursdays and for running the line match days a job that is not the easiest for anyone (even if the refs don't always take notice). Tim for his recoding of the games even if he is not always sure who we are playing, and to all of the parents who turn up week after week at training and matches and help with the nets, goals, Teas coffees and all the other things that happen without us having to ask.
Finally thanks to all the lads for making the season as good as it has been I have enjoyed this season working with you for 99% of the time and I hope that you have enjoyed it as much as I have a bit of a break will be good for all of us but before you know it we will be back on Thursday nights for pre-season so enjoy the break and get ready to race around the track at Red lodge
