The last home game of the season at Carlton park turned out to be a very pleasant morning with some nice warm sunshine and the pitch in perfect condition.
The lads started well and had Debenham on the backfoot, the 1st goal came after 5 mins and some great play from the lads the ball went through to Connor he played a ball acroos to Ed and then the ball got to Ben he dug it out from under his feet and it went in of the post a great start to the game and no more than the lads deserved. The next goal came after some excellent play and pressure from the whole team, we won a corner and a good ball in from Arron and Meikle got his head to it and Sam made sure by smashing the ball into the net and making it Sax 2 – 0 Debenham. The lads were playing really well and the visitors started to show a bit of frustration and little kicks started coming in but the lads kept playing some great football and Ben got the ball through to Ed and he ended his goal drought by chipping the keeper and it looked like the lads were really up for getting more and Rossi came close next after Meikle played a great ball to him. Number 4 came from Ed after Ben played the ball wide to Connor and his ball across the box went all the way through and Ed slid in at the back post to make it Sax 4 – 0 Debenham. The rest of the half carried on in much the same way and every time that Debenham tried to get forward and play it through their captain Fish was there to break up the play. The way they played with 1 and 2 touch football was good to watch and a world away form how they played against Sutton a couple of weeks ago. The 2nd half was completely different with the lads not getting as much time on the ball and seeming to tire a bit in the warm weather, They battled hard but could not find the final ball and when we did the shots were not up to the same standard as in the 1st half. Jack mad some great saves to keep the lead but unfortunately the clean sheet went after The captain got through and put the ball into the corner out of Jacks reach. This gave Debenham a lift but it was too late for that to affect the game even though Jack made another double save and Debenham had a go for the last couple of minutes. The whistle went and the lads took a well deserved victory and another valuable 3 points.
Well done lads a great performance and all the hard work that has been put in over the season is paying off. We have 3 league games left and every 1 of them is vitally important if we want to lift the title and finish on a high.
We have a break from the league for the next game with another tough game against Tornadoes in the cup Semi final and if we play to the level that we can there is no reason why we can't get to the final.
Well done lads
David
