The longest away trip of the season for the Lads and going away on a high after the defeat of F&W and a cup final win for a lot of the lads. A cold morning but dry, we were a bit disappointed to see the small pitch when we got there as it stops the lads playing their usual game but they were going to have to get on with it.
The lads found the 1st few minutes difficult with having no time on the ball and when we did get it we seemed to panic and get rid of it with out thinking too much what we were doing. Brantham started brightly and went close a couple of times. The ref had a word with Kyle in the middle of the half and I think this may have been playing on his mind in the 2nd half. When we did have the ball and got forward the Brantham back four looked a bit shaky and all we needed was a bit of composure. Gok got forward a few times a managed to get 3 shots away but none of them had the keeper unduly worried. Brantham had 1 long range shot that had Jack a little bit concerned but it went over the bar. It wasn't until stoppage time in the 1st half that Arron made 1 telling pass that Rossi got on the end of and took it past the defender he seemed to take an age before he put it past the keeper, it looked like it should have been off side but the goal was given. Straight from the restart the ref blew the whistle for half time.
Brantham 0-1 Sax
Half time saw the introduction of John for his 1st game back in a long time and Connor coming on Fish and Gok coming off. John had an instant impact making a good run down the right and looking like he was well up for his return to the game. For the 1st 15 minutes the Sax lads put the home team under a lot of pressure and looked like the team likeliest to score the next goal. Brantham slowly worked their way back in to it Jack was saved by Tom who cleared off the line when the striker probably should have scored and some great all round play from Finchy kept us in the lead. Ed had the ball in the back of the net on 55 but was harshly ruled off side. Connor was proving to be a pain to the defender on their right and putting some good pressure on with Luke, The 2nd goal eventually came from that side when Connor and Luke linked up to play a ball in to Ed's feet he had his back to goal and held it up well Arron made a run into the box and Ed laid it back to him to smash in to the net and make it Brantham 0 – 2 Sax.
The lads were not up to the same standard as last week but give credit to Brantham for closing down and not giving the lads time on the ball, not the best performance but another clean sheet and 3 points.
