Studley Swan 1 - 1 Quinton Football Club
In the 3rd game of Herald division 2 within the Stratford Alliance Quinton Football Club faced a tricky away game to early division leaders Studley Swan.
The game started with Studley applying a lot of the early pressure forcing Quinton to defend from the start with the occasional counter attack. As the first half continued Quinton struggled to get a hold on the game although not looking completely outplayed, with Studley still applying a lot of the pressure they soon grabbed the lead with a good finish from a player arriving inside the penalty area who lobbed the ball over the Q's keeper. After the goal Quinton began to come into the game a lot more creating more chances for themselves and applying a lot of pressure on the Studley defence, before the end of the first half Quinton saw their best spell testing the keeper and earning themselves a few corners before the half time whistle stopped Quinton's momentum.
The second half began as the first half ended with Quinton creating more chances and becoming a lot more involved in the game, Studley still pressed though and created a lot of chances for themselves but the Quinton defence stood firm and kept the score at 1-0. As the game progressed play opened up and both team tried their hardest to grab the crucial second goal of the game. Late on in the second half Quinton still found themselves trying to find the equaliser and soon the pressure paid off with Nathan Clifford playing a long diagonal ball towards Dave Carter who never gave up on a ball destined for the keepers hands, the pressure paid off with the keeper fumbling the ball and gifting Dave Carter his 2nd goal of the season and equalling the scores up 1-1.
Both teams still pressed to grab a winner with Studley Swan having the ball acrobatically cleared off the line by the Q's Iain Sayer and Quinton having a counter attack which found itself to Dave Carter who was unlucky not to grab the winner with the ball being cleared off the line by a sliding Studley player. The game finished 1-1 which was a fair result and leaves both teams unbeaten this season.
The Q's move onto next week where they face a struggling Coventry Amateurs team at home.
