Quinton Football Club2 - 0 Coventry Amateurs
A confident Quinton Football Club headed into thier 2nd home game of the season facing a Coventry Amateurs team who were so far this season struggling to get going.
Quinton began the game strongly, instantly taking the game to Coventry, pushing for the early goal which they believed would rattle the youthful and rather inexperience looking away team. Early on the high intensity Quinton started the game with paid off with Dan Jennings adding another goal to his tally after putting away his chance, the assist coming from Nathan Clifford notching his assist tally upto 4 in as many games. As the first half progressed Quinton looked the stronger team creating a lot of chances and playing the more attractive and controlling football, Quinton continued to play the attacking football but could not find the crucial second goal before the half time whistle.
The second half was played out in the same fashion as the first, Quinton creating the better and more threatening chances whilst limiting Cov Ams to little possesion and preventing the away team any real goal scoring opportunities. Quinton still worked hard to score the second goal and kill the game off, but some top class saves from the travelling teams goal keeper prevented this becoming the case. First off all diving to his far post to tip away a looping header from James Land and then stopping a sweetly struck volley from John Keohane with instinctive reactions.
Quinton had to wait till late on in the game to secure all three points, Jake Edden latching onto a long ball played by Richard Butler before rounding the keeper and slotting the ball into the empty net. The two goals were enough to take the points in a convincing home win for Quinton Football Club, a well deserved result which probably should of seen the home team score more. A clean sheet, 3 points and lots of creative controlling football, Quinton now move on to face a Welford team who have started the season well.
