Bretforton Old Boys 1 - 5 Quinton Football Club
The first league match of the season saw Quinton face Bretforton and former manager Mav, Quinton were out to prove a point after being dumped out of the cup during thier pre-season by Bretforton whilst fielding a squad no where near its full strength.
Quinton started the game brightly and ,although both teams created chances, looked the more promising of the two teams too break the deadlock. Dan Jennings came off the bench to score the opening two and giving Quinton a well deserved lead. Just before the half time whistle Bretforton replied putting away an indirect free kick which was flicked onto the far post before finding itself in the back of the net to make the score 2-1 going into the second half.
In the second half Quinton pushed on well and kept creating chance after chance, eventually the pressure applied by the Q's paid off and goals from Nath Clifford, Dave Carter and Mark Carter before the full time whistle gave the points and a 5-1 victory to Quinton. Quinton looked strong throughout the game and the signs look promising for the season ahead.
