Match report to be supplied by Dave 'Little Dave' Ablewhite...

Before the game there was a lot of emphasis on victory today, especially after a defeat or 2 to them in previous seasons.  I’m not sure how because the combined age of the back four must have been 200 and that keeper must have been pushing 70!

Gaffer Causley changed the tactics to 3 – 5 – 2 to try and show some of his tactical skills that had manufactured a steady start to the Mexoc season, before previous manager, and centre back john takes back over the reins of the Mexoc Ship.

It wasn’t long into the game when the lack of pace in their back four appeared which started creating major gaps that were exploited. When Causley was granted a penalty for a trip (though replays showed there was no contact and it was a blatant dive) he was on hand to jump at a surely certain penalty at a keeper with arthritis, back problems and was only in goal because his crib game was cancelled. However, it was saved much to the shock of Causley, however the resulting corner was nodded home by big John who revelled in the Makelele role and from then on the game was in control

A quick fire double from John Faulkner showing some great winger abilities (I had my pen and paper out on the other side taking notes at them late bursts into the box) Then the second penalty of the season against Mexoc was given away by Martin, who holds claim to the title of giving away 100% of penalties against Mexoc! Though in fairness it was a 50/50 and one must feel the ref was evening it up.

After the penalty was dispatched the score came to 3 – 1 and a spell of pressure from the home team and a poor end to the second half left a possible come back on the cards and we were possibly going to rue some of the missed chances (and there were plenty). However, it wasn’t long before the game after a thunderous drive from Aiden and they were out of site and there were talks of improving goal difference at half time.

After a few tactical substitutions shortly into the second half it wasn’t long till Rich was running rampant on the left hand side whipping some wicked balls in for Smith and Causley, and nearly grabbed one for himself, one wondered how it wasn’t double figures (and how Rich’s nose wasn’t bleeding). The goals started to roll on home after Causley rounded the keeper and their left back unloaded a rocket into the top corner showing us how it was done. But with Smith still not on the score sheet there were looks of desperation appearing. Until Faulkner put one on a plate, an open goal! But still Smith needed help from the out dated goal posts, which, if it hadn’t been square would have surely bounced to safety. As it happened Smith took some of the luck that his beloved Bolton have been missing and grabbed himself a goal.

After some complacency perhaps at the back due to the ease of the game the home team made the game look contested with a 7 – 3 score line when in truth there was only one team in it and it really should have been a lot more. Got them again this week boys and it really should be double figures!

Hope you had a good night out boys I had to go home in shock of a historic win for Harry Redknapp’s Blue and White Army! Hope you don’t have sour grapes Rich. I will get you a pint of bitter after the game on Saturday if you like!
