“Got out of Jail,” that’s the title of today’s game. Traditionally, Classics are always there for the taking after a few games break and if Civil Service were more clinical in front of goal then we would be out of this seasons London Cup.
From the keeper up to the half way line, our passing was good, but once we crossed the half, we seemed short of fitness and ideas. Civil service did the basic things well, and attacked with numbers at every opportunity. They fully deserved their goal which was neatly worked for their player to head in from a good cross. Classics did not even have a shot in the first half but we knew if we kept the score close, we would do better in the second half and that is exactly what we did.
Looking sharper and running with more purpose, the first half performance was swept away with players running harder, and as a unit, defending better. Our final ball starting to ask a few questions of their defence and we starting answering with a well taken goal from Calvert. Classics this season know how to claw a victory as we have shown all season our fighting spirit and that fighting spirit earned us our second goal from a nice well taken goal from Ade and it was well deserved for him as his work rate was excellent all game.
Classics had other opportunities to close the game but poor decision making in the last third made it a 2-1 victory for Classics and ends the year on a high remaining unbeaten in league and cups.
