Kirton Town turned there attentions to a county cup game this Saturday, been drawn the short distance away to Moulton Harrox in the first round.Kirton had to bring young Joe Gilbert into goal, with Kirtons regular keeper out with injury,Callum McDonald also made his first appearance in defence for Lewis Dunworth, who had work commitments, Kyle bates moved to the bench and Radddek Kosieradzki was brought onto the bench from the reserves, Martin Durrant returned as captain after been away for 4 games with work.
Kirton started brightly and had the best chance in the first few mins with a cracking run and shot from Ashley Davis brushing the bar and going over,Moulton had a couple of chances but a brilliant save from the Kirton keeper, and then been quick of his line to force the player wide he did shoot but it bounced just wide of the far post.Moulton did open the scoring in the 25 min,a bad ball in midfield Moulton capitalized on it and after getting a very lucky rebound of Martin Durrant, the Moulton forward calmly slotted the ball into the net,de ja vew 5 mins later after another sloppy Kirton midfield ball was picked up by Moulton a defence splitting ball and the Moulton striker raced through and calmly slotted the ball passed the advancing keeper, only other notable thing for Kirton was a harsh yellow card for Ashley Davis for a sliding tackle on a defender as the ball was going out for a goal kick,2more goals before half time to give the hosts a 4 -0 lead and the tie already beyond Kirton.
The second half started and Kirton made a substitution at half time bringing on Kyle Bates who replaced Resh Demeter in midfield after picking up a knee injury in the first half, after 5 mins Moulton were 5-0 up Kirton unable to clear the ball, a cross to the far post and some sloppy marking gave their player a free header into the far corner.
Ashley Davis was substituted soon after, he picked a knock up and was replaced by Raddek Kosieradzki, Moulton had got their rhythm now and it was soon 6-0 with a well struck shot that gave the Kirton keeper no chance, Nick Kirkland replaced Dean Fisher with a few mins left, nearly with the last kick of the game a rare mistake by the Kirton keeper who had been very good the whole game and was blameless for any of the goals ,was unable to hold the ball and Moulton wrapped it up with a 7th goal tap in, Marc Neall was the Kirton man of the match who never stopped running and trying for the whole game, closely followed by Richard Ford who gave another class performance in midfield and defence ,and then Kurt west who covered well at right back and still managed to attack at times ( BUT WERE GOING TO HAVE HIM TAKING THROWINS IN TRAINING),this was a hard game to come through ,but with it now out the way ,some players need to up there game for the visit of Wyberton in the cup this next Saturday ...............heads up lads and let’s get back to winning ways
