Kirton Town were nearly unchanged again for the visit of Mareham United, Decland Sands was on the bench, and Karl Louth kept his place at left back in the absence of Lewis Dunworth.

Game didn’t start too good for Kirton who found themselves being after only 5 mins, a week shot into the box, deflected of the heel of a Kirton defender, wrong footed the goalkeeper and as he managed to get a hand to it, the ball rolled up the inside of the post and over the line 0-1 to Mareham.this must have been a wakeup call because after 15 mins Kirton managed to draw level.....just, Reece West only a few yards out saw his shot hit the underside of the bar only to bounce back towards him, and with a stooping header, headed the ball over the line for 1-1.three minutes later and it was 2-1 to Kirton, Kirton won a free kick out on the left and Richard Ford floated a lovely ball deep into the box, and making a run was James Hardy who sent a bullet header into the Mareham net. There was a few misses after Kirton took the lead, Reece, Dean, and tom all missed chances to extend kirtons lead, not until the 30th min did Kirton increase their lead, the ball was in the box and Reece West went down under a challenge and Kirton were awarded a penalty, with Decs been on the bench the usual penalty taker, Tom Owens stepped up and even though the Mareham keeper got his hands to the ball he couldn’t keep the shot out. there was a few more misses and a few hard tackles before Kirton made it 4-1 just before half time, Dean Fisher met a cross or corner inside the 6 yard area with a great header but the Mareham keeper saved it but could only push the ball wide, Dean was on it straight away and dinked a little ball back towards goal, and there was Kurt West running in who gratefully banged the ball into the net, half time 4-1 to Kirton.

The second half started and it was not long before Kirton scored again Callum McDonald who had a very good game scored his first of two goals, Another brilliant cross for Richard Ford who again played very well found Callum at the far post and his header was to good for the visiting keeper and Kirton were 5-1 up, 5 mins later and Kirton were 6-1 up a brilliant through ball for James Hardy found Reece running through on goal and as the keeper came running out he chipped the ball over his head and into a empty net ,Marc Neall ,Richard Ford, and James Hardy were running the midfield ,and Karl , Callum,Martin and Kurt were easily managing the defence , Jamie Hall in goal didn’t have a lot to do for once, but he was still fuming about the one he did let in lol.....Tom Owens and Dean Fisher on the wings were causing Mareham not stop problems ,with their speed and crossing and Reece up front could have had 6 by the end of game.60 mins and Kirton made a substitution Tom Owens coming off for Declan Sands. Kirton were awarded a corner on 65 mins and another good cross from Fordy, the slightest of flicks from Decs and Callum was unmarked at the far post to brilliantly volley into the net, Kirton had more chances to extend their lead , Reece ,a unlucky end shot after a great run from James see the ball just go wide, then MARTIN .......a brilliant run through the Mareham midfield and the end shot that was just a few yards’ off target........the resulting throw in didn’t come to anything for Mareham lol. Then we saw the save of the season from Jamie in the Kirton goal,Mareham got a throw in near the corner flag ,eventually they worked the ball to the far edge of the box ,and with a crowded penalty area, the Mareham player turned and shot , and the ball was flying into the top corner until somehow Jamie at full stretch managed to dive and turn the ball around the post for a corner, a few minutes later James hardy was decked with a terrible tackle into the middle of his back which left him flat out on the floor ,the Mareham player received a booking for the challenge, then on 85 mins Reece West completed his hat-trick again a Richard Ford cross found Reece unmarked at the far post and his stooping header found the back of the net,Mareham did find the net in the last few mins with a breakaway goal, their striker ran into the box without really any challenge on him, he shot hard and low to the keepers left , and the speed and a bad bounce ,was too much for the goalkeeper and even though he got a hand to it couldn’t keep it out , so at the final whistle it was 8-2 to Kirton.

Good result lads good to keep the run going , will be harder this weekend, but believe you can win these games ,would just like to say well done to Mareham, know it’s hard getting a team sometimes ,but one thing about them lads they have stuck together ,got hammerings most weekends , but still together ,keep going till the end of the season and we all hope things are sorted out better for you for next season , !!
