Four defeats on the bounce now...not so sure how to report on this as we had the majority of possesion through out the game...a host of good chances which by half time we should of been out of sight but again lady luck was not on our side today.
The first ten minutes of the half should have seen us at least three goals up but Adam Hayden Luke and Alex had clearly left their shooting boots at home !!!
The ball was camped in the oppositions half, Harry looked on as a spectator in goal,we had lots of good play with the lads putting in some good work creating chances, endless corners but not being able to breakdown Heyside(1)'s stubborn defence. Liam and Josh were picking up the loose balls at the back with ease as there was no pressure coming at them and were able to link up with the wingers Adam and Hayden but again not being clinical with the final pass or getting their shots off quicker. Billy had to come on when Liam took a knock to his ankle but this didn't spur us on and the game got a little scrappy.
Half Time - Heyside Juniors(2) 0 Heyside Juniors(1) 0.
We told the lads that in the second half they had to put the chances away and be quicker with the passing or Heyside(1) could easily nick a goal. (Realising this after the match why myself and Dave just didn't say anything as this did come back to haunt us).
Much of the same in the second and Heyside(1) battled as if their lives depended on it,they made it tough by just kicking the ball anywhere and endless wasting time just when we had got our tempo going.
To rub salt in the wounds the inevitable happened, with seven minutes to go the midfield were caught napping and with Heyside(1)'s first real opportunity they broke down the right wing and sent in a hopeful cross which caught Harry by suprise and three players were queuing up at the back post unmarked, unfortunately for us the ball ended up in the back of the net . Our words of wisdom at half time left a sour taste in the mouth.
Again Adam Alex Hayden and Luke all had chances but it wasn't to be our day. We can take heart in some of the football we played today but we need to punish teams and not go down to their standard of play as we were miles the better team today but our problem at the moment is not getting enough goals as this game proved.
Full Time - Heyside Juniors(2) 0 Heyside Juniors(1) 1.
Some good individual performances today but it would be nice to see everyone on the top of their game for a change and maybe the goals will come and we will be able to climb up the table. The only sour point today was at the end of the match with the opposition goading our players which we take a big dislike too... hopefully in the return match we can let our football do the talking !!!.
Harry Allen - Nothing much to do today apart from picking the ball out of the net.
Josh O' Neil - Great display, fantastic marauding runs from the back and deserved the M.O.T.M.
Liam Brown - Ultra consistant once again, gave his all for the team.
Luke Casey - Final pass just didn't quite come off today, seemed to try too hard.
Hayden Smith - Same bags of energy and commitment but control let him down.
Adam Ford - Host of chances spurned when normally they would be put away, back to the training ground for shooting practice.
Alex Williams - Not much went his way today and was well shackled.
Billy Joyce - Step up to the A Team seemed a bit much for him today.
