There was a good display of dribbling on show at the City Playground, however, unfortunately for Norreys it was coming from Matt Roddis' daughter and not the players!!
Norreys got off to a flying start with a great chance to go 1-0 up within the first minute, however a good save from the keeper denied the early opener.
Unfortunately this led to a long ball up front from the Bayer keeper which ultimately led to Bayer taking the lead after just 2 minutes.
This put Bayer on the offensive and continued with the long ball game trying to expose Norreys at the back. Norreys held on for the next 15 minutes, and were slowly getting back into the game with some good team moves that exposed Bayer's defensive frailties. This growing pressure led to Norreys equaliser when some good work from Ali on the wing provided a great cross that saw Brad duly dispatch on 19 minutes.
Unfortunately the Norreys good work was undone just 3 minutes later when another long ball from Bayer led to them taking the lead once more on 22 minutes. Norreys came back well with some good approach play and but for the Bayer keeper who was in fine form would have certainly led to another equaliser.
Norreys did not have to wait long as on 42 minutes some good interchange between the front two led to Ali scoring Norreys second equaliser of the game where the score remained for the rest of the half.
The game was there for the taking for either team, but unfortunately for Norreys it was Bayer who took the initiative winning a penalty just 2 minutes into the second half. The keeper was sent the wrong way and Bayer were 3-2 up.
Norreys were showing some good patches of passing from then on, and the Bayer keeper made a number of crucial saves to keep their lead in tact. An injury to Redders after 53 minutes saw him replaced by Neal, but this did not imact on the pressure Norreys were putting on Bayer for another equaliser.
Whilst Norreys were piling in the pressure on the Bayer goal, they were looking vulnerable at the back to the Bayer long ball game, and Bayer were able to increase their lead after 72 minutes.
The game continued in this vane, with some good team play from Norreys and the long ball from Bayer. Another good Norreys team move led to a well played oass from Tam throuh to Ali to score his second of the game and put Norreys back in the game at 4-3. Norreys continued to look for another equaliser but it was Bayer who managed to score once more with just 2 minutes to go. Norreys were still looking like they could find a goal however the Bayer keeper was playing well and kept the score line the same until the final whistle.
A good team performance going forward, some vulnerability to the long ball game at the back by Norreys and a good performance by the Bayer keeper were the key elements of the match which led to Norreys losing their second game of the season.
Managers man of the match was Brad Simpson
