CSK were crowned champions of the Premier League and maintained their 100% record with an impressive 5-1 victory against Unathletic Madrid. It was a night to savour for Wanderers fans who celebrated long into the night.
The Wanderers started slowly once again as has been a habit this season and found themselves a goal down early on when a shot deflected off Lewis Turpin and found the net. Steve Winter had to be on fine form to keep the deficit within reach, and he saved brilliantly on several occasions to frustrate the Unathletic. Parity was restored however, when Alex Ternouth broke forward and slipped a pass to Dan Jacques who tucked the ball home with confidence. CSK started to get into their stride and took the lead when David Jones set up Dan Jacques who repeated his potent finishing. Lewis Turpin and Stuart Savidge were defending well throwing their bodies on the line, with the former causing a slight injury concern after two successive blows to his side. CSK fans have come accustomed to his injury feigning however, and it was soon apparent that his exaggeration didn't worry CSK's manager. At half time a 2-1 score was exactly what the fans had ordered and the carnival atmosphere lived on through the interval.
CSK were irresistable in the second half combining brilliantly to comprehensively defeat their opponents. Alex Ternouth smashed home after good work by Dan Jacques, and then the provider grabbed his hat-trick when Ternouth laid him in. The rare save for Steve Winter was made and the defence stood firm as the Wanderers continued to delight their fans. Lewis Turpin wrapped up the win with a simple tap in after David Jones had cut the ball back to him. It was a deserved victory which epitomised CSK's form this season. 5-1!
Dan Jacques and Aaron Walsh showed unity during the week when they jointly prosicuted the News Of The World for libel damages following allegations about their private lives. CSK's manager Steve Winter will be pleased that the media attention is now back on the football. He was proud of his team when he spoke with BBC Sport, "They have been fantastic for me this season, each and every one of them. To be classed as the "golden generation" at a football club you need to consistently win trophies and these boys are doing that, long may that continue." Defender Stuart Savidge was happy to get his hands back on silverware, so happy that he led the team in the footballing ritual of tipping ice cold water over the manager then he spoke with reporters, "We have won every game this season which makes the title even more special, today was just an example of how our whole season has gone and we now hope that we can carry this good form through to next season."
Opta released the CSK's statistics for the season and they speak volumes of CSK's dominance.
