CSK Wanderers ended their title winning season in style with an emphatic 7-0 victory over Shouty and the Ironhearts. A hat-trick for Aaron Walsh, a brace for David Jones, and a goal each for Dan Jacques and Alex Ternouth fired CSK to a flawless season once again.
The Wanderers were in confident mood throughout the game, with dominant possession and good creativity. Aaron Walsh gave the Clarets the lead when he stroked the ball into the net to the keepers left, after a decent pass by Alex Ternouth. Ternouth provided the assist for the second, when his shot was parried and David Jones smuggled the ball home from a yard out. Jones turned provider when his cut-back was swept home by Aaron Walsh. The talismanic midfielder grabbed his hat-trick moments later when Stuart Savidge broke forward and played him through. The finish was quality as CSK deservedly had a lead that only Arsenal could surrender.
The second half continued to be one way traffic, with Steve Winter largely being left to twiddle his thumbs. The goal of the game made it five, when CSK built from the back before a sublime back heel from Jacques and a pinpoint pass by Aaron Walsh allowed David Jones to cheekily flick the ball beyond the onrushing keeper. The goals kept coming, when another break forward ended in a goal for Dan Jacques. Jones provided the assist for the goal, and it was Alex Ternouth who was next to profit from a Jones pass. The defender reknown for his ability to break forward unleashed a powerful drive from outside the area to complete the rout. 7-0 and it could have been more!
It was a double celebration for Steve Winter as he reached his 100th appearance for CSK Wanderers. 52 clean sheets in those games is quite some achievement for the veteran stopper whose 50th birthday approaches. TalkSport's Adrian Durham caught up with CSK's Manager during The Wanderers Street Parade in Burgess Hill, where fans turned out in their drove's to celebrate with the team. Winter: "It was an amazing night for us. The title was already won, but we finished the season with a fantastic display which makes me even prouder of the boys, if that was possible." He was then asked by Durham as to the whereabouts of duo Aaron Walsh and Stuart Savidge, "I don't know. Maybe they are lost in the crowd of fans that have turned out. The fans have been inspirational to us and this trophy is for them." It soon emerged that the absent duo were not at the parade, and in fact had been snapped in a silver BMW watching people in other vehicles by the papperazzi near The Waterhall at a local dogging haunt. Rumours of a homosexual relationship between the pair have been long been in the media circles, but to be caught in the act of such behaviour threatens to distract further from the achievements of the side. A club spokesman addressed the media with the following statement, "We have advised two players contracted to CSK Wanderers to make no comment about recent revelations in the media and we wish to request that the private lives of the individuals concerned be respected. The club will take no action as it does not wish to get involved in the private lives of its players unless they seriously contravene the ethos of the club or effect the availability of the player in question." Though the front pages were filled with photographs of humiliation, the back pages were filled with pictures of glory, as celebrations of another successful season went long into the night. CSK will be hoping that this glorious culmination of the season will be repeated next term.
