A hat-trick from Dan Jacques and goals from Lewis Turpin and David Jones guided CSK to a comfortable 5-1 demolition of The B's. A solid performance from the Wanderers keeps them top with two games remaining.
The game started in slow fashion with both sides wary of one another. The B's had defeated CSK on their last meeting and so the Wanderers could be forgiven for their cautious approach. CSK then settled into some passing rhythm and good combination play led to their opener. Dan Jacques' persistence down the right created a good opportunity for David Jones to sweep the ball home from three yards. The goal rocked The B's and CSK continued to push forward, Aaron Walsh played the ball through to Dan Jaqcues who powered his shot low to the keepers right to double the lead. Some sloppy play in midfield allowed The B's to make a rare counter attack and with CSK caught high up the pitch the striker calmly slotted past Steve Winter to get them back in the game before the break.
Fears of a B's comeback were extinguished in the second half whne Walsh found Jacques, who found the net once more to restore the two goal cushion. Jacques grabbed his hat-trick when Jones' dispossessed the last defender and squared for Jacques to tap in. It was fast becoming a rout and even the defenders wanted a piece of the action. Aaron Walsh drove forward and unselfishly laid the ball to Lewis Turpin who tapped home to make it 5-1. More chances came and went with some wasteful finishing preventing a greater margin of victory. 5-1 was a fair reflection on a game that CSK had dominated with the Wanderers fans delighted at their sides performance.
Manager Steve Winter was eager to talk up his sides title credentials when he spoke with BBC Radio 5 Live after the game, "We were outstanding tonight, brilliant passing and moving and solid defending. If we continue playing in this fashion we won't be caught at the top. It is important we don't get complacent ahead of the big clash next week." Man of the match Dan Jacques spoke with TalkSport after the game, when he sparked a media frenzy, "We were great tonight but we could have scored even more if 'El Greedio' had not turned up towards the end. Having said that we were top class all over the pitch and deserved the win." The comments were reportedly aimed at Aaron Walsh and rumours of a brawl in the changing rooms circulated The Waterhall. Photographers awaited the departure of both players after the match, and two players left the ground hidden by their training tops ten minutes apart. Stu Savidge was keen to downplay the incident, "We are a united team, no bust ups or anything. We are all focusing fully on the football and winning this title." CSK need no distractions ahead of the top two clash that could decide the destination of the silverware. The Clunge Buffet Warriors will be hoping that the rumours of disharmony in the CSK ranks are proved to be true.
