Sadly we could only get one game on today , which was a shame as it would of been good to get our season going with a bang. The boys who did play had a very difficult game against a afc brooklands team who beat us twice last year.
We spoke to the boys before the game about working hard for each other and being confident when we have the ball. They took this into the game and it showed in a fantastic performance which produced a 3-1 win.
We started the game very brightly and had the better of the play. Our midfield really bossed the game and eventually we got our reward. Harvey fed the ball to Harrison and his cross was met by a superb finish from Lucas. We controlled the game until half time without adding to our score. Adam and Tyler were solid as ever at the back and even when max was called into action he felt with it easily. This along with caleb and James being solid in a defensive midfield position really restricted brooklands to half chances.
The second half was a more even affair but I felt Harvey And Lucas still controlled the game for us. We added our second soon after the restart with another great team move. A superb intersection from Adam sent Lucas through and he unselfishly centred for Harrison to finish at the second attempt. We then created a succession of chances, Adam had a great run and shot which was blocked and Harvey shot just wide when well placed. The best of these chances was a fantastic left footed shot from James that was very well saved by the brooklands keeper. From the resulting corner we got our third goal. Harvey's great delivery was slotted home superbly by Adam. The boys seemed to tire in the last 5 minutes which after the unbelievable effort they had put in was only understandable. This was when brooklands started to get the upper foot but superb resolute defending from everyone and a superb save from max kept them at bay. Brooklands though finally got the goal they deserved for their efforts with the last kick of the game. A superb last ditch tackle from Tyler gave them a corner and from the quickly taken corner they slotted the ball home.
Max. Excellent game. Superb kicking and organisation coupled with two fantastic saves.
Tyler. Dependable as ever. A absolute rock at the back. Some superb tackles and distribution.
Adam. Superb partnership with Tyler at the back. Superb tackling combined with powerful runs and shots. Superb game.
Harvey. Superb game. Some very classy touches and skills on the ball. Passing was outstanding and run the show with Lucas. Deserved a goal.
Lucas. Unbelievable game. Covered every blade of grass and made every pass and tackle count. Made one goal and set up another. Man of the match.
James. Very good game. Some lovely skills on the ball and some important passes. Unlucky not to score with a fantastic strike.
Caleb. Complemented Lucas and Harvey very well. Broke up brooklands attacks on several occasions and made some very important interceptions.
Harrison. Superb game. Scored a good goal and created several chances for others. Superb tracking back to help the team.
The boys played very very well but the most pleasing thing for me and Dave was the way they worked for each other. They should all be very proud of there performances.
