Match report
As always any fixture up at Stokenchurch promises to be a physical battle, and this game was no different, with the lads battling their way to 4-3 win against premier division opposition. To use a Brendan Rodgers quote the boys showed great character to recover from 3-2 down to net twice late on to secure a deserved victory.
We could of been behind after just 30 seconds when Anderson did well to make a fantastic last ditch tackle when a goal appeared almost certain, we recovered well and started to get a foot hold in the game and by the time the excellent rodriguez had linked up with crooks we were 1-0 up, world class through ball and finishing from the wide men. We looked in control with s.coker and Gunns having to be at their best to deal with some route one stuff from out hosts. With the game ambling towards half time, we committed a cardinal sin and switched off at a quick corner routine, the ball being cut back to Rob North of Stokenchurch who powered a shot past a helpless summers 1-1, rodriguez had a chance in the dying seconds of the half having rounded the keeper but managed to fire across the goal with it gaping. Half time 1-1
Second half began and we started well without creating a lot, however following a scramble on the edge of the area Piercey got a foot to the ball and played in Ryan Coker, who bared down on goal and with ruthless suarez-esq efficiency finished the past stokey keeper. The game was very much end to end from there on in and stokey equalised when a cross flashed across the goal and was tapped in from a yard out 2-2. Moments later we won a free kick for a back pass 6 yards from goal, super Shaun Coker using his footballing brain squared a ball towards rodriguez, unfortunately his older brother who has to go for ever thing remotely near the goal stuck a leg out from 5 yards and poked the ball wide when it was easier to score, a frustrating bit of selfish play which was punished seconds later as Stokenchurch rushed down the other end where keeper turned striker Jamie Essex fired home 2-3. We would now have to dig deep and we did, following some sloppy defending rodriguez found himself in space and fired home for 3-3. The game could of gone either way from this point but thankfully we took our chance, sub Chris Everett crossed a ball to Douglas on the edge of the area who showed good footwork before slotting home from 16 yards out 4-3. Stokey had one final chance but fluffed their lines, and there it is a giant killing against Orem oppostion 😂
Great work lads
