Four wins in a row now for the beacy boys, today the victory was earned the hard way coming from 2-0 down to run out 8-3 winners.
Manager gunnell made three changes from last weeks cup giant killing, Green, S.Coker & Searing returning to the team in place of Wilkinson who dropped to the bench and Wingfield and bumpstead who were both unavailable, in addition also unavailable from last week was Michael O'Connor withdrew from the squad following a neck injury.
Electing to play the same formation, we dominated the opening stages of the game, with several half chances coming and going, Davies cutting the ball back across the area towards hall who was unlucky not to control his side foot finish and the ball spun away from a goal kick. Hall again came twice on two occasions, first shooting narrowly over and then seeing a shoot from just inside the area well saved by the keeper. Despite dominating the opening 30 minutes we could not find a breakthrough, and the inevitable happened, on a rare break away, the Four seasons striker and Shaun coker tangled on the edge of the are, resulting in the ref awarding a penalty, from a distance it looked a harsh decision, although it has been confirmed it was in fact a penalty, which was converted calmly by the opposition skipper 0-1. The opposition barely deserved their lead but soon had a second celebrate, following some sloppy play, the four seasons winger struck from the edge of the area which beat Chris summers at his near post, the keeper getting a hand too it but will be disappointed to have been beaten 0-2. The beacy comeback was kicked into life just a minute later, from the resulting kick off Rodriguez and hall did well to set Ryan coker up for a simple tap in 1-2. Within 5 minutes the scores were level, following another run by davies, who cut the ball back which was only palmed away by the keeper to the feet of coker who tapped in his second of the game Half time 2-2.
The two goals in quick succession turned the game and within in a few minutes of the restart Piercey picked the ball up just in side the oppositions half, he sent a perfectly uted lob into the roof of the net, we have seen some fine goals since we formed as a team, this has too be right up there 3-2. A forth goal arrived shortly after following another cut back from davies Ryan coker completed his first hat-trick for the club(the manager renaming him Ryan kuyt, as the hatrick bared similarities to the former Liverpool mans hatrick against Manchester united, with all the goals coming from tap ins from no more than 5 yards out) 4-2. With beacy now in complete control a fifth goal arrived, a corner was only half cleared and when davies received the ball on the right hand touchline he cut the ball back to Gunnell who had the simple job of tapping the ball in from a yard or less out, his 4th goal in his last 8 competitive games, good going for a centre back 5-2. The sixth goal then followed again excellent play by Davies who squared the ball to searing on the penalty spot who took one touch and blasted the ball home 6-2. With Wilkinson and Roberts replacing hatrick hero Coker and the hard working Hall, the game settled down, and it wasn't until the 76th minute when the home side threatened a come back, when following a clearance a ball was lofted back into the area, which fell kindly for the four seasons winger who tucked it away 6-3. This turned out to be little more than a consolation as Sam Green added the 7th with his first goal from the club, curling a superb shot from 20 yards out beyond the keeper 7-3. There was time for one final goal when davies and Wilkinson combined well to set up Searing for his second of the came with a close range header 8-3.
Good battling performance to come from 2-0 down, question is why do we keep putting ourselves in these positions, where we have to fight our way back into games. We dominated the entire game and a 10 or more goal victory would have been a fairer score line, we need to cut out individual errors, that said we did play some great football at times.
Man of the Match - Ryan coker, for his hatrick, including two vital goals just before half time. Special mention to Rich davies who was superb.
